Tony Knight groaned. His sympathetic, former-Zeon guard had been a little too generous lately with slipping him illicit beverages and he was feeling the effects. More so, he was feeling anxious trapped away on Luna, unable to spread the word about the Zeon Reform Party. He was allowed a brief call to the party HQ back in New Berlin and had learned that operations were continuing and that others had stepped up to temporarily run aspects of the party while Tony was under house arrest. The last thing he remembered though was shouting something about stay-behinds and macaroni, but everything beyond that and preparing another statement for the press - which currently read "Hey, how about them stay- behinds? They should join the crowd and get a life." - was a huge blur. He balled up the drunken rambling of a statement and looked out his hotel room window. He knew inside that his superiors were working on a solution to his predicament, but he needed out sooner rather than the speeds of most diplomacy. The Reform Party was different; they got things done! But only because, according to the vanilla vodka-and-Coke Tony had drank, he was out there handling things personally! How long would Kelly have languished in that junkyard if Tony hadn't gone there? Forever! Or until a stay-behind recruited him. Or a snake bit him. Or...or something! Tony's time to act would come soon enough; his favorite guard would be on-duty in an hour and Tony had managed to sneak some cash with him. He watched the clock tick by, waiting until he heard the distinctive sound of military boots marching away and then marching back. He quickly ran over to the door. "Comrade, are you there?" he whispered. "Ja, I'm here, Friend Knight, but I couldn't bring anything with me." "That's okay, I have something else I'd like to ask you." "Ja?" "Can I borrow your uniform?" The guard paused for a moment. He had a good job working with the Lunar Republic and helping Tony escape put his career in jeopardy. Then again, Knight had offered him a pension of his own and was doing other good works. Thinking fast, he turned on his radio. "This is Schultz, I think I have heard a gunshot on the floor above me. Requesting permission to investigate." "Affirmative, Schultz. Go check it out and we'll send someone to cover your post." "Thank you, Control. Schultz out." The guard quickly opened the door to Tony's room and motioned for the Republic officer to walk out. "They'll be taking the North stairs," the guard explained, heading for the stairs himself to fake an investigation. "Take the South stairs - and hurry!" Tony nodded and quickly reached into his jacket. He pulled out a small wad of bills and tossed them to the guard as thanks, quickly running off before the replacement guards arrived. ![]()   • Tony Knight: 1 CP gained, No Damage The sun shines brightly over Equatorial Africa. The relentless heat beats down upon the Sahara as it did hundreds of years ago and will continue doing so for hundreds of more years to come. Unfortunately for some, the heat does not seem to affect mud. The threads of the Guntank II sank deeper into the African mush. The left track is buried deeper than the right and Sergeant Scarth Maheart is doing his best to get out. His two Type 74 vehicles, thanks to their hovercrafts, had skimmed easily over the tricky terrain. They now wait for him on a small cliff as Scarth tries to get the Guntank II moving. " (>o.o)>, come in." It is one of the Type-74s. "What's going on?" replies Scarth. "Mobile Suit inbound, the IFF says its one of ours." A minute later the white familiar form of a Gundam appears. "Sergeant Maheart?" asked a female voice "Howdy Colonel, can I help you?" Colonel Belanie Reece looks at the stuck Guntank II. "I should be asking you that," says the petite colonel. Suddenly artillery fire sounds off in the distance. "Oh look," remarks Reece," it has begun." The hidden Artillery Howitzer emplacement in Kimberlite roars defiantly. It has sat here hidden like the rest of the diamond mine base for the past four years. Now as its enemies draw close, the heavy gun belches fire and steel at distant targets. The ships of the 2nd Indian Ocean Patrol Fleet are spread out over a dispersed formation. The shells from Kimberlite just splash harmlessly into the water between them. Above the fleet and the Kimberlite base, Medea aircraft and their smaller counterpart swarm the sky. The heavy cannon is no threat to them. Eventually, the Artillery Howitzer stops firing. It returns to its concealed position, both to preserve ammo and to make it less of a target for bombarment. The siege of the last Zeon base in Africa has begun. The Siege of Kimberlite. ![]()   • Belanie Reece: 1 VP gained, No Damage   • Scarth "(>o.o)>" Maheart: 1 VP gained, No Damage |
