I know we have already started a discussion here: oywrpg4.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=effgeneral&action=display&thread=1653However, I would like to move the discussion here to keep with my obsession with keeping the strategy stuff manageable. Its easier to look back at stuff too if its dated and people don't keep talking in the same thread forever. First anyone have objections to pooling the RP with me? If so would you please respond that you would be willing to do it and how much so we can add it all together and make a manageable plan. We can easier make a plan once we know who is contributing what, and who wants to join in on any planning. I'll contribute as well, Jojo.
I have 400 RP atm and can give you 300 right off the bat. The extra 100 is for filling out my squad of Tin Cods since I anticipate high turnover.
Every week after I can give you 100 of my 200 salaray right away and whatever money seems likely to remain at the end of the week I can send your way as well.

My original proposition stands: | Unit | Price | Amount | Total | | Big Tray | 1100 | 1 | 1100 | | Medea | 330 | 1 | 330 | | Dish | 44 | 2 | 88 | | Tin Cod | 11 | 8 | 88 | | Type 61 | 11 | 7 | 77 | | Type 74 | 44 | 2 | 88 | | GM Ground | 315 | 1 | 315 | | GM Ground Sniper | 360 | 1 | 360 | | | Final Total | | 2446 |

I've also updated our total tally of funds: oywrpg4.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=effgeneral&action=display&thread=1659Anyway we've got more then enough for this fleet together and if we wait for next week we can get a Himalaya and fill it up (well try to.)

I think we should either do the Medea fleet or save up for the Himalaya.
The problem with Big Trays is they can never be safe becasue anyone can attack them, a Medea or Himalaya can only be attacked by a few units.
Zeon's only aquatic MS is their SS officer in a Z'gok and the only unit that can fly is the Apsalas and it checked by a Tin Cod.
We could make the initial fleet with a Himalaya, Jojo's Medea and another Medea or Hillock.

A Himalaya can certainly factor in later, but I don't think it's quite as versatile as we'd want for now.

One or two Gaws with a little support from Dopps could take out our fleet in the blink of an eye if it was all Medeas. Besides our GM Snipers can hook up to the Big Tray and spam pink lasers of doom. I took down like half the Gaws at Odessa single-handedly that way.

I have seen several proposed fleets to put together, but currently I do not like any of the proposed ones. Early in the game we are limited by the fact that our own VPs are very low and we basically do not have the resources to take on large groups of Zeon forces.
So I propose to you the first fleet I would like to build:
FLEET 1: Led By: Nigel Ferdinand
Medea 1: (Benedictus) (PC: Nigel Ferdinand) 2 x GM Ground Type (PC: Anton Rowsdower & PC: Jay Tessa) 1 x Guntank MPT (PC: Jack Murphy) 1x Type 61 (PC: Cray Vermillion)
Medea 2: 1 x GMPGT (PC: Jack Verse) 1 x GM S Type (PC: Jane Sheppard) 1 x Marines 1 x Tin Cod
Medea 3: 1 x Blue Destiny (PC: Thorvald Siggurdson) 2 x Marines 1 x Tin Cod
Fleet Support Craft: 6 x Tin Cod
Total Fleet Cost: 781 RP
This will be our attack group, since this unit is entirely airborne it will allow us to react quickly and perform paradrops. This will give us the edge because we can move to hit bases where the Zeons are not currently clustered. Though it has limited air cover it is extremely cheap as well! At only 781 RP it is almost entirely replaceable in a week! The purpose of this fleet will be to strike at the heart of the zeon mines and smaller bases, destroy them, then retreat. (Which we can easily do in the first week).
Fleet 2: Led By: Jarvis Ackart
Hillock 1: 1 x Marine 1 x Tin Cod (PC: Jim Irwin) 1 x Tin Cod Hillock 2: 1 x Marines (PC: Tael Thorn) 2 x Tin Cod Hillock 3: 1 x Marine 2 x Tin Cod
Fleet Support: 1 x GM Sniper (PC: Aurem Senaiha) 1 x GM Command (PC: Jarvis Ackart) 1 x Aqua GM (PC: Hirsch Munchek) 6 x Tin Cod
Total Fleet Cost: 2453 RP
I would like to see victory in East Asia with this sort of fleet. I am still debating in my head what sort of vehicles to provide for this fleet. The first task for this group would be to seige Manila. Why seige you ask? Simple, they have no bombardment weapons (besides 1 jukon) and we have a GM sniper, plenty of aircraft, and 3 ships that can bombard. Eventually it will soften them up or force the zeon to react to the fleet and fight us where we have an advantage for this fleet which would be over the water. It also gives the marines a task in the first couple of days which would be to scout manila.
We can afford both of these fleets in the first week and we can put two zeon bases on their heels if we execute this properly.

I would obviously suggest going with the Himilaya since I could easily defend. Should we decide to attack or defend our bases, it would be very feasible to deploy troops considering many bases are coastal fortifications.

Should we decide to attack or defend our bases, it would be very feasible to deploy troops considering many bases are coastal fortifications. A Himilaya would be an obvious addition to Fleet 2, and would be its next target. Fleet 1 would probably keep its size down and just attempt to build Fleet 2 as our priority.

I think that's it's risky. However, I also like the potential rewards we see here, and I think it's ballsy enough to work. And if it looks like we're about to get gang-raped by the TAF PCs, one advantage of your highly mobile Medea fleet is that you can rush in to assist if needed.
I'm down.

Excellent proposition Jojo, I can go with this. I'm all for going on the offensive and attacking two places at once will keep the Zeeks guessing. Oh and I'll pledge you my full 400 RP for now, MS are too expensive and that money is better spent on a fleet then on throw away Type 61's.

Jojo only needs 431 RP to start with, after his own funds. Really, I'd need the rest for massive Hillock purchasing.
Time to face-kick them off our Earth.
