The second set of doors opened in the hangar bay with a shuddering groan. The blue aquatic suit stumbled from the flood bay, crashing to one knee as Xavier struggled to gain control of his suit. His head was pounding as the proximity sensors continued to blare, his cockpit had flooded and was lit a dim red color. He couldn’t see a thing outside his suits, all his visual systems had gone black.
“Shit!” The Schutzstaffel officer frantically tried to balance his suit as it started to lean forward. The momentum of its heavy frame brought the Z’gok slamming to the ground with a thud. Xavier was bounced around the cockpit like a rag doll, the hatch snapped open, and all the water went rushing out, taking the Schutzstaffel officer with it.
Umph
He came to an abrupt stop as he hit the ground in a cascade of water. Xavier tried to push himself up, but began coughing violently, his body trying to expel the water from his lungs as he doubled over in pain. “Damnit…”
“Hauptscharfuhrer!” Marina’s eyes widened as she saw her commander fall to the ground in a rush of water. The young girl gasped and sprinted across the hangar towards Xavier, her hat falling off as she took off.
“Ariel?” His mind must have been playing tricks on him again as he watched the fuzzy form of Marina running towards him. He struggled to move again, only collapsing as he went into another coughing fit. Xavier looked up, and this time the fuzzy image of the young girl morphed into a clear vision of his daughter. A faint smile formed across his face, and tears welled up in his eyes.“I’ve missed you angel…”
Marina fell to her knees, the young Schutzstaffle officer sliding up next to her commander. She pulled her bright blond hair behind her ear as she looked into Xavier’s eyes. His gaze seemed so distant and out of focus; his eyes red from the coughing and tears. The young girl shook him, doing everything she could to keep him focused until help could arrive. “Stay with me sir…”
The vision of his daughter became fuzzy again as he stared into Marina’s deep blue eyes. As the room seemed to dim, he could see that it wasn’t his daughter… but indeed was the lady of the lake. If it hadn’t been for her, he might not have been here.
Some kid… I can see why they call you that. Marina Nimue, Gihren would be proud
“Thank you…” Was the last thing to escape his lips before he blacked out and lost consciousness. Xavier's face was one of pleasant thoughts as he lay on the floor with a slight smile, memories of his daughter playing in his mind. Marina stared blankly at the unconscious Hauptscharfuhrer, confused as to what just happened.
“… Uh… You’re welcome… Sir?”
