Somewhere Over Siberia – East Arctic
See the world.
That was one of the EF’s pitches for new recruits back when I enlisted. Can’t say that they’re still using it now, haven’t really paid much attention, but I don’t see why not. Beats some of the propaganda bullshit I’m sure they’ve been putting out lately. Better to die with a gun in your hand the thinking goes, I suppose, although it probably doesn’t make much difference once you’re dead.
They sure have me seeing the world lately even if it’s from 30,000 feet. Shuffled out of Africa to go to the Philippines and help with the attack on some Zeek base, I arrive just in time to see the carrier shot to hell by some crazy Zeon sub, mobile armor I think they called it. So it goes, I guess, never really liked trying to land on those things anyway.
I’m sure some of the brass shit a brick when they learned that, don’t like it when their plans don’t match reality. Probably got some guy who thinks he’s gonna be the next MacArthur, now. All well, I’m just a number to them and they decided this number doesn’t need a break and sent me off to Siberia, god knows what they think I’m gonna do up here.
At least I got a couple decent wingmen now, all survivors of the carrier in the Philippines, two young guys and a blond with a pretty nice ass. I don’t pretend to know how long they’ll make it, but I’m enjoying their company while it lasts.
Another piece of news that reached me sometime in Asia was about that Dutch Prince I was with in Africa, Ferdinand or whatever his name was. They say that he ended up getting shot down and is MIA, probably dead. The Sahara isn’t very kind to men. It’s a shame since he seemed like an interesting guy but that’s what happens when the Fed’s mistake politicians for soldiers, people die. But as long as they’re just numbers it’s okay.
