I think we knew.

It wasn't that obvious, was it?
I mean... I know some people would have known, but not everyone. Maybe like... 10 people.

Considering I haven't been in the chat in like three years, and it was clear as day... Umm... Maybe I'm just too close, though =).

By the way, Berrik is a really good guy. I think Anastasia hit the nail on the head exactly. He's just a little too insecure, and takes these games a bit more seriously than I think many of the people here still do. I'm not really active in Future Imperfect anymore, and there have been a lot of decisions I've disagreed with, but I still like the guy as a person and consider him a friend.
I was surprised to hear about what happened that made him leave OYW, though. I'm hoping there's a better side to the story =/.

It's worth noting that he considered quitting earlier than he did, but I somehow managed to talk him out of it. When whatever happened to make him quit like he did happened (I wasn't in chat because this game lacked that Mibbit client, so I missed a lot), I kinda felt like my effort had been wasted.
But I agree with what Anastasia said.

Berrik probably should have quit earlier. I don't think it was Frenzy so much as Vlad that was dragging him back into it though.
I would love to know if there was something I said in the chat that exacerbated the issue, but I really do think it was just the forum bans. Boy could not keep his mouth shut and kept answering questions incorrectly on the questions board.
Another big part of it I think is we de-opped him in the chat, but that was because he banned me and Draco. For those who don't know the story, Draco switched sides early from Zeon to EF largely because he wasn't getting along with Berrik and wanted to hang out with the Chan gang instead. The way he did it was kind of shady/metagamy as well, he "accidentally" moved to federal positions so he could get captured/killed and switch.
Well ever since then every single time one of Berriks brilliant schemes went sour, it was Draco's fault. He MSN'd me demanding I remove Draco soooooooo many times. I gave Draco a pretty hard time for the way he switched, but after he did everything was fine. Berrik didn't like this so he banned Draco from the chat.
Later, when I was throwing out consecutive forum bans for the questions board stuff, Berrik decided that if he was going to be banned from the forums, that I was going to be banned from IRC. Happened a couple times, and then Tian de-opped him at my request.
For what it's worth, Berrik ragequitted OYW3 as well. Same sort of stuff.

But yeah, Berrik is a pretty good guy, and he's an asset to a game like this because he gets real into it and competitive and his nerdability makes him better at strategizing than the average person. He's a decent RPer too.
He just has a temper and cannot see things any way but his, so as soon as the train goes off the tracks it well... Explodes.
I'd love to have him back and he is certainly welcome to join if he'd get his head out of his ass and migrate over. I've emailed him saying he's welcome and his response was, word for word, "I would rather die."
I am not giving him any special treatment though. If he pulls the same sort of crap I have no problem with just banning him again.

I remember that whole Draco fiasco. At times, Berrik seemed alright, but he couldn't ever get over the fact that I was apparently 'biased' against him YEARS ago in a battle I'd written (and I wasn't)
So, I can't say I really have any good memories of Berrik. I know he didn't seem like a tool to everyone else, so eh.
