“Look, I’m you Daddy!” Xavier looked over his desk to see his daughter draped in his black Schutzstaffel uniform as she attempted to walk around. He smiled as his hat hung off her head, almost covering her eyes and her arms filled maybe half his sleeve. It was obvious that Ariel had gotten into his closet and decided she would play dress up. Her bright blue eyes smiled at him as she tried to put on a serious face, pretending to be her father at work, marching around and scowling. The Schutzstaffel officer couldn’t help but chuckle at the sight and when he realized she was trying to be serious, he too put on a stern face and saluted her.
“Aye Sir!” He relaxed as she let out a big grin and the hat finally fell off her tiny head. She was a handful, and he knew it was dangerous to carry her with him, but she was the only thing that kept him sane out in the void of space; every moment was a blessed one.
“Having fun baby girl?” Her red hair fell in front of her eyes as she nodded and grinned, giggling instead of responding. ~ Present... Xavier stared at the silver pendant that he had wrapped around his wrist; the cross was one of the few things he had left of his beloved daughter. He let out a sigh as memories of Ariel playing around his office replayed themselves in his head; he could almost see her in his uniform, or her dragging penny around the steel floor. The Untersturmfuhrer’s daydream was interrupted as Marina entered his office; she walked in and saluted her officer, flashing a slight smile as she relaxed. Xavier let out a smile as the sight of her in the slightly oversized uniform made her even more like Ariel in his eyes. He shook his head and invited her to sit down. “Sit, please…” He looked at her as she took her seat, then down at the necklace and returned his gaze to her. The two sat in quiet for a few moments before Xavier broke the silence. “Here, Marina… I want you to have this.” He removed the necklace from his wrist and held it out over his desk. “It was my Daughter Ariel’s…” She paused for a second as she stared at the dangling silver pendant, before reaching out to grab it. “Th-thank you sir…” The young captain wasn’t sure what to say. Marina let a smile slip as she fastened the clasp behind her neck. It was a beautiful necklace, and she was honored to have it; maybe one day Xavier would tell her the story behind it… “It looks perfect on you.” Brennan smiled as he fought back a few tears – She looked so much like his angel. The young blond girl blushed a little as she let her hair fall back down. After a few more seconds of nostalgia, the Schutzstaffel officer cleared his throat and slid a folder across his desk. “I have something else for you. In that folder are our orders from Gihren, and a new Jukon that you are to be assigned to. His Excellency has requested we aid Garma Zabi in the hunt for the elusive White Base.” Marina’s eyes lit up at the idea of getting back behind the wheel of a submarine after losing her Ashray, and the horrible fiasco with the Morrigan. She grabbed the folder and began flipping through the orders and the documents filling her in on the new Jukon Class sub she’d be commanding. “However, before I go any further, we must wait for Scharfuhrer Novosad. This is to be a Schutzstaffel run mission; we need his participation to ensure the success of our plans.” Marina nodded in agreement as she continued to silently read over the specifications of the assignment. Xavier reached over to his COMM button and called to his secretary. “Send Me Ritter Novosad…”

Ritter Novosad glanced up as a Gaw sank down from the clouds, passing over the San Fransisco Bay on its route. A few suits dropped out the back of the battleship, most likely an aquatic test of a new model they had put together on the base. California base always had activity, it was the heart for most of the TAF’s operations on Earth, and a heart should not stop beating.
Novosad looked back down on the crew and soldiers that had assembled on the glorious base. Two more fire teams of panzergrenadier soldiers had been assigned to follow him during his journey from Manila’s ruins. His squad was gaining reputation among the other SS infantry with their record expanding. Death counts of federation soldiers and civilians which were the results from actions of Ritter’s squad brought a steam of new foolish men to serve under him, even if they were destined to die under his lead. They looked up to Ritter Novosad, he was the Schutzstaffel’s man with a steel heart.
The voice inside his helmet cracked, it spoke off a few words and went dead. Novosad turned and walked away from the crowd knowing his lingering presence would be enough to keep the men working. Troop count on the base increased with their arrival, armored infantry nearly doubling in quantity. Operations were in the works against the enemy battleship terrorizing the Zeon forces on Earth and his infantry would likely be in the coming assault, he could only assume that is why he was being summoned by the Untersturmfuhrer.
After a quick jeep ride the soldier made his way through the corridors of offices with a skirted secretary in lead. The image seemed quite amusing to those they passed due to Ritter’s reluctance to remove his gear, the soldier rarely removing the restrictive armor until it no longer served its purpose on the battlefield. The humor was lost on him. Not wasting any more time he entered the room, having delayed the man long enough.
“Herr Untersturmfuhrer.” His mask gasped as Ritter’s arm rose straight and made a sharp salute to Xavier. His body stood at attention as he waited.

Xavier and Marina both looked up as the massive armored soldier entered the Unterscharfuhrer's office and saluted. His mask hissed as he spoke, his eyes hidden behind the blood red lenses that were the trademark of the infamous Schutzstaffel infantry. The young captain stood and returned the salute, but Xavier remained seated and relaxed and nodded at the Scharfuhrer.
“Marina, sit please… Scharfuhrer, make yourself at home…” He motioned to the Panzergrenadier commander to take a seat, but Ritter didn’t move, quietly choosing to stand instead. The Schutzstaffel officer just shook his head; Novosad was every bit as rigid and formal as he had heard. “Very well sir.”
“His Excellency has asked that I head an operation in conjunction with the TAF officer Garma Zabi, to aid in capturing the Federation Carrier, White Base and its prototype mobile suit.” Xavier watched Ritter for any signs of emotion or reaction as he explained to the hardened infantryman his reasons for beckoning him to California; but the Scharfuhrer didn’t even flinch.
“While Lord Gihren would love to hear that the Schutzstaffel have captured the elusive and troublesome carrier, we are accompanying them to assure the TAF does not fumble the ball. The Schutzstaffel is to do everything in its power to ensure that Garma succeeds, but if things go bad, our objective changes to his protection.” He paused for a second as he cleared his throat. The officer looked to his young underling and nodded.
Marina stood and walked over to Novosad, her blue eyes staring into his lifeless red eyes. The young girl handed the man a file folder with orders for his men, and outlines on the upcoming operation. She nodded to Novosad before turning around and returning to her seat.
“I have requested your participation due to your service record and upon the suggestion of several of those close to me. I need the best at my disposal to ensure this mission’s success, and your unit is second to none.
In that folder, you will find all the info you will need to carry out your newest orders... Any questions Novosad?”

His fingers flipped through the plans quickly, glancing at part of the operation that was about to unfold in the coming day. It was the standard procedure that Ritter would expect for his squad. One part in particular caught his attention though. Glancing up from the paperwork he looked at the young officer that had been accompanying, Marina Nimue, he started at her for a moment before moving his gaze to Xavier.
Ritter had been with the woman before above the skies of Manila. While his memory of his own history could be considered questionable, he knew the small silver pendent across her neck was not something she had been in possession of for long and it was unlikely something like that were to be found in the jungles on the trip back.
“Only one clarification is needed. Your request for the capture of the Trojan Horse calls for the infantry deployment inside of the vessel. You have no objection to the extermination of the men and women of the crew along with any federation refugees that it may hold?” His glare back into Xavier’s eyes was almost a challenge. Men among the Schutzstaffel had been speaking of the officer, his execution of an enlisted man during the interrogation of a woman was whispered among the dark corridors while the soldiers were alone. He looked at his mirror opposite, the man with the silver heart, and awaited the coming decision.
Ritter himself looked forward to the coming slaughter of women and men alike. His final addition to his inquires comes out in sternly, “Refugees from Side 7 may still be aboard, children included.”

Ritter had all of Xavier's attention as soon as the words escaped the Panzergrenadier's mask. The Schutzstaffel officer stood abruptly from his chair and stared into the red goggles of his subordinate. He gritted his teeth at the monster that stood before him. "Remove your mask, and look at me... I want you to understand where I stand, Soldier."
The Scharfuhrer reluctantly removed the pieces of his armored mask, leaving only the goggles in place. Once he had finished the blonde Schutzstaffel soldier raised his head and stared his officer down through the red lenses once more.
"Look me in the eyes Novosad!" Xavier slammed his fist down on his desk, causing Marina to jump and take a step back from the two men. She could feel the tension building in the room, and was growing slightly uncomfortable as neither man budged for what seemed an eternity to her. Finally, after much defiance, Ritter removed the goggles and his blue eyes stared into Xavier's.
"When I said your unit is second to none, that is with out question." He paused for a second, staring down the intimidating infantryman as he tried to find the words that needed to be said.
"You have your orders, and are authorized to do whatever is necessary in order for you to succeed... I don't need to know the details, I know your reputation, and you're the best at what you do; there is no room for failure..." The Unterscharfuhrer curled his lips in disgust as the words left his mouth. This man was a monster, but there was no denying his effectiveness on the battlefield; some compromises had to be made, much to Xavier's dismay.
"And don't forget your place Scharfuhrer... mind your tongue..." Xavier growled as he refused to yield to the defiant Panzergrenadier.

The two men stared into each other eyes for a moment after Xavier’s comment came to a close. The growl in his voice and the man’s posture made it clear Ritter Novosad had hit a chord in his officer’s morals.
Ritter replied to the angered man, “I omlouváme.” He found himself speaking back into his native language without noticing, his mind had momentarily gone elsewhere as he removed his mask for the first time in front of another in at least a year. His reaction to the training and role he was pushed into. His new face in his own mind was that mask, those goggles, and even when injured that thin band of mask still hiding his true eyes from anyone else. It was a relief to know that removing it didn’t bring back any feeling to his heart.
“The Schmerz arrived yesterday and will be outfitted before the assault. Everything else onboard is in order for the operation.” Ritter dropped the folder back down onto the desk. He looked back into the eyes of Xavier which still carried the taste of hatred in them. By instinct he decided to move elsewhere in order to avoid a growing conflict and gave his eyes to Marina instead.
His eyes met hers softly. The light blue tint of her eye’s iris reminded him of his own face. Even without the mask and strength Ritter had on the battlefield she was just as intimidating to the troops under her. This interested him. His empty face pulled from the past what he could make of a smile as he spoke to her, “Would you like a full report after the operation completes?”

It became very obvious, very fast, why Gihren had chosen her to be a Captain in the Schuzstaffel as she fearlessly stepped towards the man, approaching him the same as she would any other subordinate.Marina's eyes hardened as she she stared into the Scharfuhrer's cold gaze; her blue eyes now cold as ice. She saw him attempt a smile as he spoke; all she could do was smirk, not wavering one bit under his stare.
"As Untersturmfuhrer Brennan has stated, your job is to complete your objective... Do not waste our time with details..." Marina spoke sternly, supporting Xavier's decision and trying to show Ritter that the Schutzstaffel officers would not be intimidated.
Xavier let a bit of a prideful grin spread across his face as he watched Marina stand up to the Panzergrenadier. He brought his eyes back to Ritter before speaking again. "Now if you don't have any other questions Novosad, I think you should be readying for our mission..."
The Schuzstaffel officer paused for a second to collect his thoughts. "Oh... and Ritter? Garma Zabi has requested the Schutzstaffel's presence at his ball tonight... Hopefully you will take the young Zabi up on his hospitality Scharfuhrer."

Ritter’s face straightened out as he noticed neither of the two officers in the room shared his interest in the deaths of those on the battlefield. Ritter reached down and picked up the black armored face. He placed it upon his own as a hiss of air secured the suction seals as the suit regained its pressurized state. His gaze looked back up, empty of emotion as only that face of metal could present, but the presence behind it felt betrayed. “Understood. Hauptscharfuhrer, Untersturmfuhrer if you will excuse me I will see to the finishing preparations immediately. They should not interfere with tonight’s celebrations.” ~ After a small dismissal Ritter Novosad made his way out of the office corridors and back to the infantry. Two dozen men nodded in confirmation as he approached; among the gun carrying men of the battlefield was the only place his tastes would be appreciated. One of the panzergrenadiers looked up from his perch on the treads of a Dobday battleship. His grinning lips removed themselves from a harmonica as his graspy voice let out, "Welcome home brother."
