Bryce was at the small desk in his room aboard the Dobday, Berkhalter. Adjusting his coat some, he stared at the report that lay in front of him. Although he was writing about how the Hildolfr was performing, it felt very similar to writing a personal journal. The moments pause let him think about what had happened with the captives taken at the SEA HQ. Fellow Zeons successfully assaulted the base, and had even gained a few target prisoners. Usually negotiations would proceed after such an event, but they were simply executed. Bryce knew this was war, but not even giving negotiations for prisoners a chance? Even the Federation soldiers up in space held negotiations for a long time before executing Lt. Wu Jinyuan. The sudden execution of the 08th MS Team left an uneasy feeling in the bottom of his gut. He wondered if they would share the same "hospitality" with Arianna, if she ever got captured, as they did with the pilots of the 08th MS Team. He hoped that day would never come.
Although slightly disturbed with what happened, Bryce found solace in what was his fairly pleasing report. He gathered up all the documents and placed it into a manila envelope and sealed it shut. He stood up and headed towards the door to take it to his superior just as a soldier barged on into the room. Almost colliding straight into Bryce, the soldier held out some papers. "PFC Hollerfelt? You might want to look these over." The soldier saluted after handing the papers over and vanished just as quickly as he appeared. Tossing the manila envelope back on his desk, Bryce headed over to his bed and plopped down on it. Thumbing through the papers quick he saw multiple photos amongst random bits of data. The photos were obviously of Federation forces. He then came upon a GM he wasn't too familiar with. It looked to be heavily armored, and it was being loaded onto some sort of vessel. Also in that very same photo, there was a woman near the mobile suit. The distance the photo was taken at made it difficult to depict anything, but Bryce stared. The woman was slender, with long, purple hair... His heart jumped... Her skin was of a darker persuasion as well... Another jump... It couldn't be. Bryce put the photo aside as he looked at previous pages reading what was printed. Reading to himself, 'Recon reports say that a large Federation force was forming at Hawaii... Mentions of the 87th Integrated Fleet being brought back to the field..." The other photos showed even more units and military equipment being loaded onto ships.
This was not good at all. That woman he saw in the photographs was none other than Arianna. He'd recognize her anywhere. This was bad news, indeed. If the 87th was coming back to the battlefield, that only meant that the G-Force might be seeing them soon enough. Thinking back to the clash in South America, Bryce could not help but think that Arianna was now amongst the enemy's amassing fleet. He knew the two fleets would fight eventually. Would he be able to fight though? If anything, he would need to protect her. Find her as soon as he could and make sure she made it out safely. Zeon had way too many weapons that would be more than she could handle. The destructive power of Zeon Mobile Armors was something not to be messed around with. Bryce could only help but feel somewhat responsible for such a fleet forming with Arianna apart of it. His desire to end the war tomorrow most likely brought it about. He brought too much attention to himself, and instead of taking the war away from Ari, he dragged her into it.
With a long, deep sigh, Bryce fell back onto his bed, staring at the ceiling. Why did he join Zeon in the first place? This would have been so much easier on the both of them if he had joined the Federation just like Arianna did. Was it the great respect he had for Zeon for helping Side 6 out? If it was, the respect was long gone now that he has seen combat with them. A troubling situation was dropped right into his lap.
