A cool breeze swept the rolling green hills of Europe. The wind's gentle touch crept up over the Hildolfr and brushed lightly across Bryce's face. He smiled, putting one leg over the other as he lay on top of his mobile armor. He stared up at the sky, his hands were nestled behind his head to cushion against the hard metal of his tank. This was the first time he was alone in awhile. He was used to being hauled around by the rest of the Terrestrial Assault Force. Taking in a deep breath, along with such reprieve from being surrounded by his peers, he closed his eyes and nodded off to sleep.
Bryce awoke, squinting his eyes as he got used to the light that was shining directly on him. He sat up and stretched, letting out a slight grunt before rubbing his eye. Bryce could see many houses down below the grassy knoll he sat upon. He turned to his left and smiled at Arianna. She was on her side, turned towards him as she slept soundly. Reaching down, he brushed a strand of hair from her face and turned back towards the rural scenery. Life was great. Graduation was only a month ago, and not one day passed when he wasn't with Arianna. Bryce was able to live his life out with the woman he loved without the worry of classes or any responsibilities to burden himself. It was the most relaxing summer he's ever had. One day they were at the park, the next was at the pet shop. Who else can say they can lie around outside under the sun all day without a care in the world? Bryce could. Smiling, he reached down and placed a hand on Arianna's shoulder before waking her with a nudge. She whined as she inched closer to Bryce, settling herself up against him, falling right back to sleep. With a chuckle, he put and arm around her and eased back down on the cool grass himself. Eyes closed, he drifted off to sleep with her.
A loud crash startled Bryce as his monitor was filled with the image of the Federation's Blue Destiny. A warning light started to flash as it was accompanied by an irritating noise. Bryce threw the throttle forward more as he tried to force the Hildolfr on top of the Blue Destiny as it held on with heat hawks jammed into the large tank. The two mobile weapons abruptly stopped, shaking Bryce around in his cockpit. As everything went black, the last thing he saw being the Earth Federation symbol on the shoulder of the GM Blue Destiny.
The loud shrill blast of an alarm was sounding, red lights pulsing as Bryce was snatched up by a woman. Being carried in her arms, they ran through tight hallways, turning many corners. With them, Bryce saw, was a man. He wore a hat with an anchor and star symbol engraved on the front of it. The two adults spoke to each other in a hurried tone, much of the conversation inaudible to Bryce thanks to the loud sirens. The woman held Bryce tight as she ran in the opposite direction of the man, heading into a room. The door shut firmly behind them, enveloping the two in complete darkness, as well as a silence that was a loud as white noise.
Bryce sat up as he awoke from what he thought was a nightmare. As his hands touched the cooled steel of the Hildolfr, Bryce looked down at his mobile armor and sighed. His body eased itself from its tension, recognizing that the 'excitement' was all over. Placing a hand on his head, he took in a deep breath and then whipped his head up towards the sky. He fall backwards onto the mobile armor again, wondering what the hell he just dreamed about. What did he just witness? He could remember being in Side 6, he remembered his fight with the Blue Devil... But, what was that last dream? There's no way. Bryce quickly got to his feet, shaking his head in doubt. It couldn't be true. He's never had a dream anything like that before. Why now though? Was it all the combat he's seen lately that has awoken something locked away deep inside his mind? It had to be, why else would he have seen those things? They all meant something. It all meant something to him, in fact. His gut turned over as he turned himself to stare out Eastward. Something brought him out here. Maybe it has something to do with his dream? Maybe he could find out what his dream meant if he kept following where his gut lead him.
