I was just pondering, and have an idea that I like, so I'm putting it out here for the ocnsideration of all.
That is to say organizing into quasi-permanent groups of PCs that act together. This would probably be better done at the start of OYW but... oh well. Anyways, these groups would act as a unit, offering better teamwork, steady RP partners, etc. Whaddya think?

I like the idea. In addition to reducing the number of sheer clusterfucks that the writers have to write, I think we'd get more writing time if we split into smaller groups. I think I got a grand total of 4 sentences in that last giant event, which isn't really Chan's fault, just due to the sheer size of the event he had to write.
Also I think permanent RP groups would help with the general lack of Federation RPing.

This is a good idea and will be more feasable after Odessa.
Odessa is a clusterfuck by definition.

Judging by all the shenanigans that we've been able to do with both Damocles and Cygnus operating as mostly independent units, this is a great idea. The only disadvantage is lower firepower if attacked, since you guys can't all be in the same fight (unless you started it) without a ship.

A fleet of 3 Medeas is pretty cheap for a fleet. That would do enough to keep us all together for defensive purposes.

I've suggested it. Numerous times. *shrugs* Hopefully after the clusterfuck is over, we can make it happen

If the other side turns into a cluster fuck its hard not to respond with the same. That is often the problem

Chris seems to have been doing pretty well with only a few PC's backing him. He and the PC's that travel with him usually get a lot better development in their battles and are allowed to do more as well. I think if we split up the same would happen for us.

What are the downsides? Lat mentioned that defending against attacks would be more difficult, and DJ countered that forming a fleet of 3 Medeas can keep the group together. Is this strategy cost-effective and sustainable? Any other options for keeping teams together? I'd guess that a smaller group is more likely to go unnoticed by the enemy. The more experienced players are in support, so I guess it wouldn't hinder us from a strategic standpoint.
So, for the teamwork, RP opportunities and because I think it would be more enjoyable, personally, let's go for it! After Odessa.
