"So Jay... What do you think about Operation Stardust?" Erin asked, laying on the bed, playing with a small stuffed animal.
Jay spun his chair to the side, propping his feet up on the wall, "Stardust, huh? Well, honestly, I think it is good. It is our chance to prove that the Federation isn't as smart as they like to claim themselves to be. Take away a little bit of their people's support, you know?"
"I suppose. You don't think it's not too... Harsh, right?" Erin let out a little sigh for that moment, hugging her animal.
Blinking, Jay replied, "Harsh? Oh, well I guess it could be. Look at it this way, though. If we don't do anything at all, then the Federation will continue their antics and make things worse for everyone in the long run. I believe this will be a great step forward into achieving what we want! What will be good for everyone!"
"Yeah," Erin smiled, "You're probably right. I just needed that extra little reassurance from someone, you know, talking it out. That kind of thing. I knew I could count on you!" she finished, letting out a little laugh while sitting up in the bed.
"So did you hear? The Nightmare of Solomon is taking part in Operation Stardust!"
"You mean, Lieutenant Commander Anavel Gato? Yeah, I heard he is piloting the Gundam Prototype 2 that they stole from Earth. What about him?"
Jay shrugged, "I don't know, I mean, it's really cool that we have such a veteran pilot in our ranks working for the same future! I know other people are nervous around him or don't like him at all,"
"Well, I really don't know him all that much. I've seen him on occasion, but he just brings about to me the typical soldier. I'm not afraid of him, and I certainly don't dislike him,"
Jay nodded and then motioned with his head at her stuffed animal, "That thing. I've never asked why you always have that with you. It's special to you, that's clear enough. Why though?"
"Oh, you mean Lapis? My wittle bunny!" she said in a childish voice, smothering her stuffed animal, "Mama gave this to me back in the colonies,"
Jay swallowed, fearful that he might have brought up something painful, "Oh yeah, your mother... Before she died of that sickness. I'm sorry,"
"No, it's okay. Even though I was only nine at the time, daddy was there to help me through it. He was there for me all the time, and Lapis here holds a great memory of my mama so I wasn't that devastated. I miss her, but I'm not sad," she smiled to Jay, "Now that daddy has gone to see mama, its just me. I'm not alone though, cause I have you. Not only that, but you hold memories of my father that makes me smile. So, again, I'm not sad,"
Jay stared at her for a little, wide-eyed and almost in half-shock, "R-really now? Well, I'm glad you aren't feeling bad about their passing. I've only seen you truly upset once and I never want to see you like that again. I'll, uh, do my best to do what I can for you!" Jay finished with a look of pride on his face, his flushed cheeks fading away.
"You are something else!" Erin laughed, "I'm glad we got to meet. Being with daddy at A Baoa Qu at first was very boring. I know I had daddy, but I still wanted someone my age to be around. Most of the other soldiers or people my age were just... to absorbed into the superiority complex over the EFF. You, though. So different, so normal. It was a relief. You also got along with daddy so well. I never saw him laugh so much. You know, he told me stories about your father and himself. How they used to hang out, how they would act. I saw the same exact thing between you two," Erin looked to the ground, a soft smile on her face.
Jay chuckled, "Oh yeah? Your dad was pretty rough sometimes though! It wasn't all fun and games!"
"No, it can't always be that way. Someone truly close to you will experience all aspects of life with you. The good, the bad, the sad. All of them," she finished, hopping off the bed.
Jay sat up in his chair and looked up to her, "You going to be OK?"
"Yeah... Thanks for this, Jay," she smiled, leaning over to kiss him on the cheek. She then turned away and left his room.
Jay sat there, shocked and in awe with what just happened. He really did not know how to react. He always joked around with hitting on her and flirting, but never actually thought he'd be met with this kind of feedback.
"Operation Stardust. You've given me more hope from success than just what we'd do to the Federation. Oh, so much more! I'll whip their sissy asses into line so fast that we will be done ahead of schedule! Yeah, that's right! Red Comet, Crimson Lightning, all you fame-hogs, watch out!"
