The surface of the Earth has changed a lot in the last two hundred years, between massed migrations to Earth, colony drops and the worldwide One Year War. Africa had it particularly hard, being stripped for raw materials by Zeon, and being the longest lasting holding of the Duchy, with resistance pockets holding out long after the war had officially ended. Australia fared little better, with the Operation British colony drop striking Sydney and completely obliterating it, creating a tremendous impact crater and turning the lower third of the continent into a lifeless desert in one instant. Vibrant cities still exist, in this part of the world mostly in Egypt, India and South Africa. But many areas have been reclaimed by nature, as nearly whole countries migrated to space, many of the remaining villages destroyed by the great war. Lush forests and rolling plains are a much more common phenomenon than cities in this day and age. Spring has started south of the equator, and the tropical storms that can plague the Indian Ocean later in the year have not yet begun. But still, these oceans can be plagued by very harsh storms, and the Earth Federation has had difficulty policing the Indian Ocean in recent weeks. It is in these turbulant waters and troubled times that Aiguille Delaz, Marina Nimue and the Zeon survivors at Kimberlite have started to make their move. |
