Zachary joined the Zeon ground forces as an amphibious MS pilot. As a spacenoid, piloting a mobile suit in water is the closest he can come to zero-gravity while on earth. His unit of choice is the stealthy Acguy, a potent close range MS with a wide range of built-in weapons. The Acguy's capabilities, combined with Zachary's newtype skills allow him to perform many unorthodox combat maneuvers, which has led to the nickname of "The breakdancing Acguy" by some fellow pilots. Those who know him well jokingly call his suit the "Zacguy" and sometimes refer to him as "ZW" or simply "Z" in battle, due to his long first and last name.
Zachary is a fairly laid back man who fights for Zeon primarily out of the reasoning that since he was born in space, it would be odd to fight for the Federation. He doesn't care much about the Zabi propaganda, and doesn't really believe himself to be a newtype as Zeon Deikun had described them. Sometimes his lack of passion for the Zeon cause gets him into trouble with his superiors, but generally his underzealous personality is forgiven in light of his skills as a pilot. Though usually looked upon with disdain for this, at least one officer has noted "If he ever finds something to fight for, I don't know anyone who'd want to be his enemy."
