The Long Dark Road:
Hikaru Striker frowns as he looks down the road that roams through the mountain valley. He has been flying over this convoy for what seems like hours now. Below him, few other mobile suits move around. The one that he is watching is the big red one. It is one of the mobile suits that people call gundams.
"This has been quiet." mutters Hikaru to himself.
"Too quiet." states a voice over the comm. "You know that if you are going to talk to yourself you should turn off you mic."
Hikaru curses and then looks ahead as he spots a group of vehicles blocking the road. "Obstruction ahead. I am going to check it out."
The Core Booster blasts ahead of the convoy and Hikaru begins to circle the road block. He frowns as he sees the weapons they are carrying.
"There is an armed road block up ahead convoy command." states Hikaru over his radio.
"Roger. It is just probably the civilians in the area that are in a state of unrest." replies a voice over the radio. "If you let us handle the talking we should be able to get through with little problem. Convoy out."
Hikaru continues to circle the road block and notices that Jonah’s mobile suit is moving forwards with the convoy command vehicle. Hikaru frowns as he watches the red gundam move forwards.
"What are you doing Jonah?" asks Hikaru.
"Just making sure these bastards don’t kill the leader of the convoy." answers the other with what sounds like anger in his voice.
"Just stay frosty then."
Hikaru goes back to watching the actions of the civilians and nots that they don’t seem agitated or even excited. They actually seem pretty calm with a mobile suit baring down on them and a fighter bomber flying over them. He then notices the Gundam Unit 5's arm raise and then begin firing on the road block with its gattling gun. The rounds slam through the vehicles protecting the civilians and smear the soft bodies behind.
"You bastard!!! What are you doing?" yells both Hikaru and the convoy’s commander.
"Ending this rebellion against the rightful rulers of the Earth sphere." replies Jonah Manning calmly as he finishes killing the civilians that were too surprised to fire a single weapon back. "They don’t even deserve to breath the same air as those of us who support the Earth Federation."
Hikaru curses but slams his fighter to the right as a missile erupts from the trees. "We have more enemy contacts in the trees. I am going evasive."
The Core Booster dodges a few more missiles and watches as the convoy comes under attack. Hikaru sees that he will have to provide cover as the mobile suit below begins to fire its weapons into the trees near it. He begins by firing a few shots from his mega particle cannon into the trees.
This seems to work as everything down there begins to catch fire. He then unloads the bombs mounted on his fighter into another patch of trees that weapons fire is coming from. He fails to see a missile launched shortly before his missiles hit. He feels the danger but fails to react in time and the missile strikes his fighter. The Core Booster plummets out of the sky and crashes into the road near G05. Hikaru looks out his damage cockpit canopy and sees the light battle damage all over the G05 but he notices more the fact that there is no more weapons fire coming from the trees not burning. And all he can hear over the comm is Jonah laughing as he feeds more bullets into the trees.
Outcome: Convoy safe
Jonah Manning: 1 day of damage, 75 exp, 100,000 credits
Hikaru Striker: 2 days of damage, 80 exp, 100,000 credits
Military Might:
A single red mobile suit runs across fields heading toward a distant group of vehicles. Inside the mobile suit Tyler Back’s eyes narrow. He spots numerous mobile suits. Most are Zaku II Js but two grab his attention. A Gelgoog Marine and a Gouf. They look more dangerous than the others but he knows little about them. He shrugs as he stops his mobile suit and fires off a couple rounds from his cannon.
He curses as the rounds fall short. The whole convoy erupts into action. Most charging towards him. He continues firing his cannon at them and only gets a couple of hits. Which of course destroyed the mobile suits in question but soon the Gouf and Gelgoog close in on Guncannon and begin to fire on it. Machine gun fire rains down on the Guncannon not doing any real damage but enough to make Tyler reconsider his attack. He fires his beam rifle a few times at the attackers and then turns and runs away.
Outcome: Convoy safe.
Tyler Back: No damage, 100 exp, 100,000 credits, Zaku Bazooka found
Penny McKenzie: No damage, 50 exp, 20,000 credits
Ren Steward: No Damage, 50 exp, 20,000 credits
Earth Federation Convoy Ahoy!
Zen Dias sits in his chair on the bridge of the Hammer as he watches his ship move closer to enemy convoy. Judging from the formation it isn’t crewed by skilled soldiers. Probably a mission to give those boys experience. Zen thinks to himself. Something he is planning on doing himself with his forces. He watches the two mobile suits ahead of him.
One is piloted by a skilled pilot while the other is someone who could use a little bit more refining but all in all Zen feels satisfied with his plan and his people. He spots the distant engine exhaust glow from the Federation convoy. And he watches the ships he can tell they are getting closer to.
The Hammer and its mobile suit escort are flying directing behind the convoy with its m-particles scattering at full power. This should prevent the Federation forces from detecting them until the Hammer is right on them. They accepted this mission because it would further Zeon goals in the area and give them more experience. And also to see if they can follow a time table and a set of conditions.
Zen knows that a lot can go wrong in a battle so this is also a test to see how flexible his people are. He nods as he continues to look out the window. He knows he won’t have to do much in this battle but supervise and make sure everything is going smoothly.
An alarm sounds over the speakers and Zen watches as the weapons officer launches missile after missile. He watches as their engine glow slowly disappears in that if the ship ahead. The Magellan directly ahead begins to turn towards the Hammer.
"Sir! The Feds have detected us!" yells out the sensor officer.
"Just relax. I doubt they have detected the missiles or the mobile suits because of the high level of m-particles in the area."
The sensor nods as she turns back to her screen. And then gives a sigh of relief as the missiles impact on the Magellan and quickly rip the battleship in half. Secondary explosions destroy the rest of the ship. Then as the fireball dies down the Hammer and its mobile suit escort rip through the debris field and come face to face with a Salamis Kai launch its mobile suits.
The lead Zaku II F in Hammer’s escort fires its bazooka into the bridge of the Salamis while the other mobile suit unloads its machinegun into the GM on the ship’s launch catapult. Then as the Hammer moves past the disabled Salamis cruiser the Zakus finish it off and the ship erupts into a fireball. The communications officer then launches the flares to signal retreat. Then his weapons officer begins to direct the ships mega particle cannons to fire in the direction of the next Salamis Kai.
Most of the shots miss but enough hit their target and another Salamis explodes. By now the other two ships have fully responded to the attack and are moving to get into positions to fire most of their weapons at the Hammer as well of having launched their mobile suits. The two Zaku II Fs race forwards and begins to fire on the GM s while staying in their positions. The Hammer also adds its firepower to the attack against the Federation mobile suits. Four are quickly destroyed in the storm of energy, bullets and bazooka rounds. The rest turn tail and run.
Then the Hammer turns its attention on the closest of the Salamis and launches more missiles and fires its cannons. The Salamis returns fire but misses while most of the Hammer’s energy blasts hit home. The missiles on the other hand completely miss. Then the last Salamis Kai launches its flares signaling its surrender. Zen nods in satisfaction. His mobile suits move to take positions on near the bridge of the Salamis.
"Stop M-Particle Spread and then open a channel to that ship." orders Zen.
"Aye sir." Answers an awed sounding communications officer. "Channel is open. You may have a little static but your point will get across."
"Thank you." replies Zen. "Attention Earth Federation ship. Your ship is now the property of the Duchy of Zeon and consider yourselves prisoners of war. Anyone one who tries to resist will be shot. Is that understood."
"Crystal clear Captain." replies a voice over the radio.
"Good. Now get ready to be boarded."
With that Zen leans back in his chair with a feeling of satisfaction at a job well done by his crew.
