How does switching suits work to a lesser rank? Say I wanted to test-pilot something; I would loose my officer grade correct?

How is this explained 'game wise'; Though I may have a small reason to be demoted, how do others randomly go from 0-3 to like E-2?

Switching Suits does not mean you can cross divisions.

Test Pilots can only pilot Test Pilot Suits

Officers what is open to them.
