History: Aleksandra “Sasha” Beria was born in the ethnic Russian neighborhood of Little Odessa (Brighton Beach) in New York City. She spent most of her childhood listening to the tales of how the old world was split between Germany and Japan. Her mind began to fill with the ‘crimes’ done against her ancestors which will leave a mark on her future. Headstrong as a budding teenager, Sasha constantly found herself in trouble by getting into fistfights on school grounds.
Finding a career upon graduation from high school proved difficult until Sasha joined the American Union’s navy. As a cadet, she is often at odds with her fellow students as well as her professors. Her ruthless nature made her few allies but all of that was overshadowed by one event. During a training exercise onboard a patrol ship, Cadet Beria took command when a sudden storm incapacitated the officers and crippled the ship’s electrical systems. Nearly three days later, Beria returned to dock with a battered ship but no fatalities.
This feat did not go unnoticed by the naval academy’s top brass. Seeing the potential for good publicity, the navy sent Beria on a series of propaganda tours around the American Union. Her face was shown on magazines, newspapers, and talk shows to promote the military’s mission. For nearly a year, she spoke line and verse for the American navy. Finally, Beria was fed up with being a groomed pet and requested to be given a command.
To her surprise, the naval brass granted her wish. It is a mixed fortune. As a young lieutenant, she is given a command of a new Himalaya-class aircraft carrier which is a rare privilege. The bad news is, the ship’s construction history has been disastrous. The previous captain has been dismissed in shame and the ship is barely complete.
But the gauntlet has been thrown to her by the naval top brass: fix the problem or return to being only a press icon for the navy. If Beria is to avenge the crimes committed to her grandfathers, then she will have to take the gauntlet and shove it down the throat of her enemies.
