Racial Diversity and Misconceptions
This is a problem that I want to nip in the butt before it even becomes a problem. Someone once asked me why the Japanese Empire was given Zeonic suits and the like which ultimately have a Germanic theme and naming system. They're Japanese, right? Why would they have German stuff! That's just silly!

Contrary to popular belief, if you look around the world of today there are various cultures which live together and foreign companies which operate in other countries. Now apply that to a larger scale. As time marched on in the RPG the intermixing of races was inevitable, there were three solid powers that dominated most of the world. This has lead to vast racial diversity among the populations of the various nations.

For Instance, the Greater Empire of Japan also occupies all of Asia and all races therein. Plus it's Lunar Cities, which are even farther multicultural. Japan built the first Lunar Cities and did so in co-operation with the German Empire using it's Mass Driver. These Japanese cities on the moon are the property of the Japanese Empire but the inhabitants of these cities are more than just Japanese. Races from all over the world are represented in these cities. They start companies and design things, much like they would anywhere else. The same applies to the Space Colonies.

Just as the European Empire isn't all German. There are bound to be Africans, Arabs, Kurdish People, Chinese People, French, Russian, British, Scottish, Irish, and all sorts of mixture of races inside the European Empire. Just as the American Union is bound to have EVERYTHING including Japanese people. Each Nation of the RPG is multicultural and has strong racial diversity.

Does the Japanese Empire have the highest Japanese population of all nations? Yes.

Does that mean everything should be Japanese or have Japanese names? No.

Is the American Union Just the United States? No.

German Names on Japanese Suits

Not everyone was happy with what happened to their home nations. Many fled borders and switched sides, integrating into their new host country. The whole reason that the German Empire was able to have spies infiltrate the Japanese Mobile Suit Development plan was because, really, it was headed by a German Company. In reality, the Japanese Mobile Suit Designs currently in use were created by a German Company on one of their Lunar Cities. This German Company has no ties to the German Empire as they fled the European Empire and got pretty tax incentives by the Japanese to do so. Even if they work for Japan, it's still an entirely German corporation and thus they gave their designs German names.

Did the Japanese care? Not at all. As long as the units produced results, the name didn't matter so much. In a world that's been highly globalized, caring about whether or not they had Japanese names was so very unimportant.

Why Zeon Suits?
Before the RPG construction even began I asked people what sides they'd like to see in the game. Someone mentioned that it would be cool to put ZAFT suits against Zeon suits. That's really it. I went with giving ZAFT to the European Empire because I felt the way the GINN Looked (Especially the ceremonial type) was more fitting of the European Nation.

Why Does America Make No Sense?
Because of all the nations, the American Union truly is the most mix-matched batch ever. They rushed into the world of Mobile Suits which meant that ultimately the American Union accepted contracts from MULTIPLE companies because they weren't sure what suit design would be the best. Too break it down as to who came up with what, it's easy:

-British Government made the Union Realdo and Union Flag
-USA made Gundam Wing
-South America made everything else.

What does this mean?

It means that just because you join the Japanese Empire doesn't mean your character has to be Japanese.

Just because you join the European Empire, your character doesn't have to be German

Just because you join the American Union, your character doesn't have to be American....In America.
