Appearance
PersonalityOn Duty: Leyla Clark is a dedicated soldier and officer. She takes her work very seriously and puts it above all else. Many have looked on at her and exclaimed, pitifully, that this part of her personality is why her marriage failed her. Many call her a workaholic. She is often quiet and not very sociable, although she still makes sure to get to know her fellow soldiers, regardless of rank. Her uniform is always to code, her words always wisely chosen, her duties and tasks quickly and efficiently seen to and her demeanor respectful and cordial. She can come off quite detached, calculating and sometimes cold although not often uncaring.
Off-Duty/during down time: She can be very talkative off-duty, although one would probably not rate her amongst the most social of soldiers. She keeps a close-knit group of friends whom she’s known for years and whom occasionally witness her unbridled enthusiasm in the few joys she allows herself in life. It is with her closest friends that she lets herself cry, laugh, play jokes and goof off with.
Fighting StyleGiven the armaments of her Tieren Antiaircraft Cannon Type, Leyla has accustomed herself to fighting in long-range battles. Often times, her squad-mates would square in on the target as she offers fire support.
She prefers to end battles quickly and decisively, whether this means placing one or a couple decisive (often surprise) blows or overpowering her opponent with a barrage of firepower. She makes great use of her reconnaissance equipment when she can for this, and prefers to coordinate attacks with her squad-mates for down-to-the-second decisive kills.
She tries to stray away from melee combat as much as possible, but if need be she does at least have a carbon blade, vulcans and a smoke discharger for melee use. She makes sure she is never lacking in her melee combat capabilities, as it would be too glaring a weakness for her comfort if she was. Melee training is always a part of her training regiment and she more often than not is able to overcome opponents very easily in melee combat if they are similarly armed. She only shies away from melee combat with her current mobile weapon, because her armaments offer a much greater long-range capability than melee capability.
Leyla is known to be quite ruthless on the battlefield because of her tactics. She goes in and out in order to get the job done efficiently and as quickly as possible.
Command StyleLeyla gives out her orders with an air of finality, whether or not she agrees with them. As on O-2, many of the orders she gives are just being repeated from her superiors. She relishes questions from her subordinates, especially if asked in order to be able to understand the situation more, but not during combat when life or death decisions need to be made and carried out within mere seconds.
Although she believes getting to know her fellow soldiers is important, she does not condone goofing off while on duty and is not afraid to admonish those who do. As she often puts her life in her subordinates’ hands while on duty, she does not want to support such an environment where where her subordinates feel it is alright for them to slack off. She stresses in maintaining a strong cohesive working unit, that squad members should be prepared for anything and everything to happen, should be able to successfully complete missions with little discourse and directions and that along with being able to predict their enemies movements, that a unit should essentially be able to read their team-members movements whenever deviation from a planned strategy needs to be taken.
That said, she fully supports the occasional enthusiasm of her subordinates in battle if she feels it will not decrease their performance and that it might work more towards improving morale.

HistoryLeyla Clark was born as a fraternal twin (to Ethan Clark) into a middle-class suburban family from Vancouver, Canada, American Union. Both her paternal and maternal parental lines have a strong history of serving in either military branch.
She had a happy and healthy childhood. Leyla was raised to always be competitive in athletics, academics and the arts. She attended public school, always excelled in her academics and spent most of her free time playing sports or participating in piano recitals. One of her fondest childhood memories were the times she spent building and playing in the tree-house built by her, her brother and her parents.
Upon graduation from her high school, she attended the same military academy that many of her ancestors attended with her brother by her side. She majored in aeronautical engineering while training to be a fighter pilot. Upon receiving her bachelors, she was given a commission to serve in the American Union Ground Self-Defense Force.
At the age of twenty-four she married a classmate from her military academy that she had been dating for years. However, after his five-year military contract ended, he chose to rejoin civilian life while Leyla renewed her contract and joined the super soldier program. It was then that problems starting really sprouting out in their marriage. Although try as they might, they just started growing more apart as time passed. And it came as no surprise to her when she was served with divorce papers thus officially signaling the end of her marriage at the tender age of twenty-six.
As the peace amidst the Earth Sphere shattered she was assigned to an Aries before being given one of the newer Tieren mobile suits.
