Ships

Some might imagine the invention of mobile weapons to be a death knell for ships. Quite the opposite, these vessels saw a bloom in their industry, as more resilient designs and firepower were developed to combat the suits and armors. While they have never again achieved primary status on modern battlefields, ships still play an important role in combat.

Four classes of ship divide the shop: carriers, cruisers, battleships and flagships. All travel twice as fast as mobile suits (rounded up).

Carriers

Designed to ferry and supplement mobile weapon corps, carriers have proven themselves time and again as key members of any modern navy. While most are meant as mere moving-hangars, others are completely autonomous in design, and worthy of clashing with far larger ships.

Cruisers

Cruisers are generally small support ships. While not as speedy as carriers, they still maintain adequate swiftness to operate in formations that can outmaneuver and outflank harder-hitting enemies. Few could be called remarkable, but when used as they are meant, theses vessels will surprise both allied and opposed captains.

Cruisers travel twice as fast as mobile suits.

Battleships

Dating back to the metal warlords of 20th century nautical combat, battleships were designed as figureheads for a nation’s fleet, capable of holding their own when faced against numerous vessels of a lesser class. Pack enough cannons, missiles and ballistics onto a mobile platform, and send it into the fray. Such is the philosophy, and it works very well.

Flagships

Paramount amongst any fleet’s craft are the flagships. Each represents more than just hostile supremacy – though yes, the guns they levy are usually ten times what another ship might carry. Flagships are symbolic; iconic. Their presence transforms a battlefield into something mythological, and entire battalions should take heed when challenging their might.
