Technical and Historical Notes |
The Atlantic Federation's primary source of military technology is the excavation of Old Earth Federation hardware, as well as modern reproductions built in factories in Africa. Though mobile suits such as the Daughtress series remain excellent combatants in spite of the age of their design, their relative antiquity shows in combat with contemporary designs fielded by other militaries. The Atlantic Federation set out to produce its own domestic mobile suits to correct this perceived inequity in its armed forces. The first of these all-new mobile suits was the AF-003 Daughtress Neo, produced exclusively at the Federation's asteroid fortress Artemis.
Though it bears much in resemblance to the Old Earth Federation's Daughtress, though with sleeker, more "pointy" appearance, the Atlantic Federation's Daughtress Neo shares little with its predecessor other than an outward appearance. It is built using entirely modern systems and technologies, and thus is greatly improved in terms of sensor range and maneuverability. Likewise, it is fitted with a state-of-the-art panoramic monitor cockpit for greater situational awareness for the pilot. Though it cannot fly in atmosphere, it possesses superior mobility to the older Valient in space, and is handier on its feet in gravity.
Though it can arm the Valient's beam rifle and Daughtress' machine gun, its primary weapons are a pair of variable beam guns/beam cutters on its wrists. These enable the Daughtress Neo to pack quite a punch, both figuratively and literally, and enable it to engage targets at range and in melee at the same time. Additionally, the entire modules can be launched out and retracted via a cable, extending the range of its melee attacks as well as allowing it to safely peek out around obstacles or cover to blast unsuspecting enemies. Though it cannot arm the Daughtress' bazooka due to the shape of its arm-mounted weapons, the versatility of the wired beam weapons makes up for this loss handily.
Unlike the much older Daughtress family, the Daughtress Neo's utilization has been much smaller after the collapse of the Atlantic Federation. The lower overall production figures, as well as the destruction of factory tooling when the Federation lost control of Artemis, has acted as a counterweight to the Daughtress Neo's superior combat capabilites. As a result, only small numbers have wound up in the hands of rouge forces, and analysts have theorized that many of the surviving Daughtress Neos have been cannibalized for spare parts.
