As the major world powers waned in the late 210s, private businesses and other regional firms began to step into the political vacuum, often to continue the exploitation of natural resources. One such industrial conglomerate, the Egypt-based Bar-Kemal Limited, added mobile suits to its manufacturing retinue at this time. The WMS-03 Maganac series formed the base of this new privately-constructed mobile suit line.

Through careful manipulation of reactor design, the Maganac High Mobility Type is able to direct hot exhaust gases out through a series of vectorable exhaust ports in its shoulders and legs, allowing it to hover across a relatively level surface at high speed for short periods. It can also make very long jet-assisted jumps, allowing the Maganac to cover a substantial distance in short order. The installation of the jets gave the Maganac with a rather bulbous set of shoulders, inevitably leading to wisecracks about its appearance as being "a set of tits on legs". To assist with maneuverability during high-speed movement, an improved sensor suite is mounted in the Maganac's head, allowing it to better navigate terrain hazards and other impediments.

In spite of its relatively short stature, the Maganac is well armed, including a faculty for beam weapons. It is primarily intended to be equipped with a rather standard 100mm machine gun and a large ablative-coated shield, but it can also equip a reloadable beam rifle for extra firepower. To save cost, the Maganac is not equipped with any beam-based melee weapons, instead opting for a simple but effective (and quite large) superheated axe.

High Mobility Type Maganacs are commonly used as assault units due to their ability to get around quickly, while maintaining roughly equivalent fighting ability to the standard model. However, they also make efficient scouts - the capability to move ahead of the main force, discover an enemy position, then swiftly withdraw is an invaluable ability for a forward spotter.
