"This
place is beautiful," Alex said as he and the rest of the explorers set
down on a rolling plain on Eden's nothern continent. "It is almost a shame we have to populate it. Look at we did to our home," Jiedash said quietly as he watched a flock of rainbow colored birds fly across the sky. "Alright, everyone break into groups. Jiedash, you take the Fenrir and examine the box canyon we saw on the way in. The White Base got some strange readings from it," John said. "Affirmative," Jiedash said. The Aegis, Kampfer and Double X turned away from the rest of the group and began to move toward the box canyon. The three Mobile Suits walked through two meter tall grass until they reached a straight drop. The Aegis walked to the very edge and Jiedash opened the cockpit and peered down.. The box canyon's floor was three hundred meters down. In the center was a lush, clump of forest surrounded by a half mile of tall wildflowers with a ring of tall, evergreen trees. The ring of trees made up the outer ring of a circular island surrounded by deep lake that extened out for a hundred and fifty meters. "How're we going to get there?" Mason asked. "We are going to use our Mobile Suits to get to grass ring and then go on foot. We can use the White Base to get us out of the canyon," Jiedash. "Got it," Trent said as the Kampfer leapt of the canyon with the aid of its verniers. The three Mobile Suits plunged waist deep into the clear water. As they sloshed through the water, the Mobile Suits were followed by dozens of creatures that was a cross between the Cheshire cat and a large seal. The jumped playfully out of the water and between the Mobile Suit's legs. "Interesting marine life," Mason observed. The Mobile Suits walked up onto the short, narrow strip of land seperating the ring of trees from the water. Jiedash debated on using the Mobile Suits' verniers to jump over the trees. Doing so would cook the brightly colored mammals, but if he didn't he would be endangering an unknown variety of species living inside the trees. "Chief?" Jiedash asked as he leaned back in the Aegis' command chair, "Suggestions?" "We could move out on foot. I doubt anything is going to do anything to our Mobile Suits," Trent answered. "We could just walk through the forest," Mason suggested. "No. We go on foot," Jiedash said, "Load up with the SMGs and your sidearms. We don't know what can be in that forrest." "So far we've seen Sharks that are part neon sign, huge fucking sharks and seals that grin that a lunatic all the time. What next?" Mason said as he emerged from the DX's cockpit. "A giant friggin'.....what?" Cyrus asked. "Coral reef," Ryoko answered. "That can't be coral. Coral is an ocean thing. This is land. The nearest ocean is fifty miles away," Shinju said. "We saw squid walking around kill eachother with weapons, why is land coral so unbelievable?" Deacon asked. "It resembles coral anyway. It is living." "Its also a mile long, a hundred feet high and forty feet thick," Cyrus added. "Hey, come here! I found something!" Gan yelled. "What the hell could you have found?" Shinju asked. "I found a structure," Gan answered. "What?" After half hour of treking through the forrest and the grass, the three Fenrir members stood at the edge of the center forrest. From within it they heard the sounds of insects and other animals. Mason clicked the safety off his sub machine gun and checked the standard issue pistol for the Fenrir. As Jiedash opened his mouth to speak, the ground below rumbled and two large, beetle like animals erupted from the ground. Mason opened fire with the Sub machine gun, but the bullets bounced off the thick skin of the bugs. Jiedash and Trent joined Max and didn't let off the triggers until the guns clicked empty. "Aim for the eyes!" Jiedash yelled as he tossed his sub machine gun down and grabbed the Fenrir's pistol and opened fire. Trent reached into his holster and hefted out a larger, more powerful gun. A gun that isn't supposed to be a semi-automatic. A .454 Casull. A big game hunting pistol. These beetles qualified as big game. The Fenrir's pistol a gun capable of knocking any man down, did nothing against the armored skin that was covering the eye. Jiedash and Mason cursed as Trent assumed the standard pistol firing pose. He set himself and sighted down the barrel at the eye of the right beetle. "I hate bugs," Trent said as he squeezed the trigger. The loud boom of the gun firing drowned out the ones from the pistol. The bullet spun in the air as it streaked toward the eye. It impacted against the armor and shattered it. The bullet continued on and into the brain of the bug. The bullet slammed into the back of the beetle's head and bounced back at a different angle. The heat and force of the bullet disolved the beetles brain. Another loud bang and the next beetle was dead. "A Four Fifty-Four Casull. Kills bugs dead." "Normally, I would object to the use of that gun...but not today. Let's move on," Jiedash said. Trent smirked and holster the Casull. The structure was five times as tall as the Titan. It was a giant, moss covered rock dome with a square wall around it. The 4th Gundam, ZZ, Mark II, Gundam, Zephyranthes, Titan and The O Custom surrounded the wall, scanning it. "There is something in there," Ryoko said after twenty long minutes. "Probably just some local life forms," Gan said. "Something is coming...its small...fifteen meters across...spherical," Ryoko said as she looked up from the sensors. The Mobile Suits readied their weaponry. Out of the center of the dome emerged a floating sphere. Hundreds of little lights danced across its surface. It zoomed toward the 4th Gundam and a green light flashed over it vertically, then horizontally. It then went to the ZZ, Mark II and the rest in short order. Then, in a flash of orange light, it shot up into the atmosphere. "Nemesis! You have incoming. Repeat incoming!" John yelled over the comm. He only got static. "Everyone back to the ship," John ordered. "What about Jin and the Fenrir?" Alex asked. "The ships have better communications than we do. Until then, they're on their own." In front of Trent, Jiedash and Mason stood a steel door. A steel door embedded in a rock dome. The three Fenrir members looked at eachother, then Trent and Jiedash pushed Mason forward. The man stumbled forward and pressed both hands against the door. A massive surge of electricity sent Mason flying back. Trent laughed. Jiedash then walked forward and gently placed his hand in the center of the door. Suddenly, the door slid into the rock dome, exposing a hallway. The hallway was lined with faint, glowing purple glyphs. "Get up, Donut," Trent laughed as he hauled Mason to his feet. Mason grumbled as they walked through the hallway and down a spiralling ramp. At the end of the ramp, they came to another door. Jiedash looked to Trent, who shrugged. Jiedash placed his hand in the center of the door and it too slid up into the wall. This chamber was huge. Easily tall and wide enough to house a dozen The O Customs. Inside the chamber was a massive cone emerging from the floor. Another emerged right about it from the ceiling and one on either wall. In the center of the room, a swirling, pulsing red/purple/white/green white. Arcs of long, jagged black lightning shot around the chamber. One struck Mason in the chest. Mason screamed in pain as the energy forced its way into his body. He collapsed onto the floor, energy still sparking across his body. Trent turned around as the door slammed shut. "What the hell!" Trent yelled as he kicked the door. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!" a voice boomed. "Who are you?" Jiedash asked. "THAT DOES NOT CONCERN YOU!" "Yes it does! You killed one of my men!" Jiedash responded. "HE IS NOT DEAD. ONLY UNDER MY CONTROL!" "I can't let you do that! Stop now!" Jiedash demanded. "YOU DARE COMMAND ME, WEAKLING? FOR THAT, YOU SHALL DIE!" "Blow me," Trent said as he fired the Casull at the sphere of energy. The bullet dissapeared inside the sphere, causing no damage. "You shouldn't stop the Reaper," Mason spoke as he raised both his sub machine gun and pistol, "The Reaper knows and commands all. He is part of Them. They control this solar system. We have no right to be here. We are weak and inferior." Mason turned to Jiedash, "Except for him. He is Their Saviour. The one who will strike down Their enemies. He needs to join Them. You," Mason said and turned toward Trent, "Must not interfere. The Reaper can garauntee you a slow painful death if you cooperate." "Tell your reaper to piss off," Trent said as he fired the Casull. The massive bullet impacted against Mason's skull and evaporated his brain. Mason's body fell to the ground with a thud as blood and brain matter oozed from his head. "Was that neccessary?" Jiedash asked. "Of course not. But I never liked him," Trent said. "YOU WILL ALL DIE! YOU WILL NOT GET OFF THIS PLANET WITH YOUR LIVES!" "Will you please shut up!" Trent yelled. "STOP NOW AND YOU WILL DIE SLOWLY!" Jiedash pressed his palm against the door and it hissed open. Jiedash smirked as he ran through the opening, following by Trent. "I think its pissed!" Jiedash said as they ran through the ramp. Suddenly, a beetle erupted from the wall and blocked their path. Trent readied the Casull, but the beetle opened its mouth parts and spewed fire. Trent and Jiedash dove underneath the beetle and fired into the underbelly. They crawled out from under it as it tried to turn around. It was too big to turn around on the four foot wide ramp and fell down thirty feet. ITs armor shattered and its innards were liquefied from the impact. Jiedash and Trent finally emered from the building in time for another dozen beetles to show up. Trent fired once and killed a beetle, then went to fire again. The Casull clicked empty. Trent tucked it away as Jiedash pulled him toward the Mobile Suits. The ground below them began to shake violently as the beetles spewed fire. Jiedash reached down for his radio and switched on. "White Base II, White Base II! Come in! Do you read? Come the fuck in!" Jiedash yelled as he leapt over a tall shrub. "This is White Base II, is that you Lieutenant?" the radio officer said. "Yeah, but unless you get here ASAP, there won't be a Jiedash anymore!" Jiedash yelled. "We can get to your location in five minutes-" "GET HERE FASTER!" Jiedash yelled as he and Trent emerged near the Mobile Suits. Trent and Jiedash ran to their Mobile Suits and climbed in. By now, their pursuers numbered thirty six. Trent smirked as he used the Flamethrower on the first four beetles. However, after thirty seconds of continous use, the flames sputtered and died. The ground continued to shake and crack. "Fighting retreat!" Jiedash ordered as he killed a Beetle with the Lupus beam rifle. "Better idea. Nuclear explosion," Trent said as he began to fire both shotguns at the Double X Gundam. On the final shot from both guns, the reactor was breached. The DX began to glow as its reactor overload. Then it disappeared as a massive dome of nuclear energy ballooned from its center. The dome moved out to take in every beetle, a good chunk of the forrest and twenty feet of grass. "Goodbye assholes," Trent said as the White Base II appeared on the horizon. The two Mobile Suits were taken aboard just in time. The box canyon exploded as an underground volcano erupted, burning everything that had once been it in. Jiedash stared at the canyon and contemplated the words that had come from the Reaper as it was called. "I'm not that special....am I?" Eden: Owner can make 10 Million a month |
