It has been a very exciting week for the Federal base in Australia. The last week has seen the garrison brace itself against the Zeon war machine and prevailed. This glowing accomplishment is only tainted by the destruction left behind by the Zeon forces. The most powerful asset of the base is still heavily damaged, the defense force has been grinded down, and the supply ships are now debris. Faces turn towards the east where the first rays of light emerge. Dawn broke and the Earth Federal Ground Force hope this next day would see them through. But it is not to be. Thousands of meters above them with groaning engines, the Apsalus II adjusts its flight path. Nested in Earth's Orbit with its revolutionary Minovsky Craft System, Private Lucas Marcolini activates his targetting system. This new test pilot is Zeon's latest gamble in wiping Torrington base off the map. If the Zeon Terrestial forces can't conquer it, then they'll just have to flatten it. A digital counter counts down until lockon. Marcolini blinks his blue eyes as the instruments flash their information at him. Despite being deaf, he can feel the mobile armor shake all around him. Marcolini can only imagine how this would be like if he can hear it. Fortunately for him, the cockpit has been adjusted so that his lack of hearing won't impair his combat ability. Then he got the signal he needed. Anyone watching Torrington base would have sworn that a god has smited the base with unlimited fury. A pillar of light punches the ground and did not let go. Like a giant eraser, large anti-fortress mega particle cannon of the Apsalus II "walked" itself across Torrington Base. First to go is the HQ Bunker, followed by the Radar/Transmissions Tower. The Targetting Facility is destoryed through resulting explosions. The already demolished Repair Bay is vaporized as the Ship Dock crumbles. The Enlarged Hangar Bay and Cellblock are torn apart by the pure energy. In the midst of chaos and destruction, Federal personnel try to get away. The most successful are the pilots, taking flight off the airfield before the ruined runway is shattered. The survivors head for Honolulu. After holding out for so long, Torrington Base became a sheet of glass as the molten sand soldifies. Onboard the HMS Cockblock, the three GMs and one GM[E] stood ready on the catapaults. But the doors remain closed, this battle is to be done the old fashion way. The 580mm cannons roars as the mega particle cannons let loose a volley of shrieking energy. Onboard the Zeon ship, the alarm spun the crew into a frenzy of activity. They knew there was a Federal warship out there gunning for them. But they never expect a whole Pegasus warship. The Zaku II Fs leap off the transport's catapaults as the captain began calling in their support fire. In the distance, two masses of missiles streak across space. The HMS Cockblock did an evasive turn as explosions from anti-ship missiles rock the carrier. In the distance, the 580mm shells miss but one good hit from the mega particle blasts struck the Saudi Arabia amidships. Smoke and fire erupt inside the Zeon ship. Another volley of fire came from the HMS Cockblock but the beams bounce off anti-beam particles. This protective screen came from the second missile wave. One 580mm shell however dents the starboard hull armor. As soon as they heard that the EFSF ship has open fire, Lieutenant John Church and Sergeant Rick Howe climb into their half repaired mobile suits. Access panels are still open and armor plating have yet to be replaced, but they launched with the rest of the Saudi Arabia's mobile suits. The Zaku II Fs ran through the anti-beam particle screen and dash straight at the HMS Cockblock. The four Federal mobile suits quickly launch into a desperate melee. There is only a small window of oppertunity for the Cockblock to destroy the Saudi Arabia. If the Zaku IIs aren't beaten off by then, the Pegasus II-class ship will have to retire. Soon, the Cockblock is opening fire on the Zaku IIs, blowing one to shreds. The beam spray guns from the GMs tore apart another Zaku II F before Rick Howe called for a retreat. He and John Church turn their damaged mobile suits away and ran back to the Saudi Arabia. The HMS Cockblock slowed to pick up its mobile suits. They scored some good hits on the Jotunheim-class transport but the determined resistance of the Zeon defenders cause them to pause for the time being.
