Petty Officer 1st Class David Renault is feeling pretty peachy right about now. He has to admit though, his butt hurts from sitting for so long in the cockpit of his GM E. The Earth Space Force pilot has just spent the better part of the last few days getting from Side 7 to +2 space. Now, he's in the middle of a debris field filled with wreckage from previous battles between EFSF and Zeon. This part of space has seen alot of action, but for what it is worth not much has changed. His mind wanders back to the Nasr Fleet and that disaster. Renault remembers comforting Candice Ro afterwards. That was pretty nice. The fighter pilot turned MS pilot is lost in thought as he casually flies his GM E through the debris field. Lieutenant Commander John Church is growing impatient. The reports were confident and sure that a single EFSF GM E wandered into this debris field. Probably to rendezous with any of the Federal Fleets in +2 space. Maybe to the fleet they just defeated. But it doesn't matter. Church just needs to get his mind off the stupidity of the past week. The whole confusing episode with the shuttle 'Fathom' clings to his mind. Then came the attack from Task Force 35.1 and 35.2 and that new mobile suit. The new mobile suit that claimed the life of Petty Officer Darius Carver. One of the few thoughts to ease his mind is the unique SS officer, Hauptsharfuhrer Leon Rieger. The SS officer actually spared the civilians... for now. They still need to figure out what to do about that. But that doesn't matter. What he needs right now is a good clean fair fight. His Zaku II R1 HMT swings its 120mm machinegun around at the head of a GM. But the severed head drifts by, its visor shattered. Church took a deep breath and continues searching. He drifts pass a bulkhead and stops, his monoeye swiveling back and forth. On the other side of the same floating bulkhead, Renault had paused so he can check his navigation systems. Last thing he wants to do is accidently drift into Zeon lines. He's already pretty close to it as it is. This debris field is so dense, the odds are pretty good that he'll come face to face with a blinking monoeye just like- -Now. For moment in time, John Church stares at the GM E and wonders why a derelict mobile suit can be still be in such good condition. David Renault wonders how a monoeye from a blacken dead Zaku II was still working. All that came to an end when Church had a revelation and draws his heathawk. The blade glows brillantly in contrast with Church's paint scheme. Renault gasps as he raises the GM E's right hand. The beam spray gun powers up but is snapped in half as the heathawk crashes into it. The GM E lets go of the beam spray gun as it backs off at full throttle. But the GM E crashes into the wrecked hull of some other ship and Renault's chair shook in his cockpit. Church swung his heathawk aside, sending the pieces of the beam spray gun floating off. The Lieutenant Commander picks up a Panzerfaust with his left hand and fires it without hesitation at the Federal mobile suit. On reflex, Renault raises his shield taking the full blunt of the blast. The shield crumbles as the GM E is sent tumbling. But the former fighter pilot is used to pulling G's and quickly regains control of the high performance suit. The 90mm machinegun came up and began burping rounds. Church tries to shield himself with his shoulder armor as he reach for his 120mm Zaku Machinegun. But as he began to fire, Church found his barrel getting caught or bumping into pieces floating around. Meanwhile Renault with his bullpup-like GM machinegun is having a much easier time getting his weapon aimed at the Zaku. That all came to an end when Church pulls out his MMP-80 90mm machinegun. The two began twisting and turning around the wreckage until they found themselves in the hull of a former capital ship. Their empty guns clatter against the sides of the metal wreck, their ammunition spent. Renault draws his beam saber and lunges with Church parrying with his heathawk. They went back and forth like that until the GM E's right foot getting stuck in an indentation in the armor hull. Looking up, Renault sees the heat hawk coming down on him and in desperation raises the GM E's left arm. The arm comes cleanly off the Federal Mobile Suit but it brought Renault the few seconds he needs He thrusts forward with his beam saber, nailing the one thing he can clearly aim for on the Zaku II: the bright pink monoeye against all that black paintjob. Renault's beam saber cleanly melts into the Zaku II R1 HMT and prys the head from the Zeon mobile suit. Church suddenly saw all of his cameras go blank. As the Zaku II stumbles backwards out of the range of his light saber, Renault did the last thing he could. He sliced off his mobile suit's right foot. As he began to drift up, Renault powers the engines. Just as the GM E blasts off, Renault drops all three of his explosive grenades into the confined hull. What happen next is a spectacular series of explosion that tore apart a ship that was already dead. On one side of the shockwave, Renault pushed his engines as hard as he can to get to safety. On the opposite side, Church jerks hard on his controls as he fights to get control of his Zaku II back. He lost the GM E in the explosion but Church needs to get back to his ship before he can do anything about it. John Church - 6 VP gained, 2 days damage David Renault - 5 VP gained, 3 days damage |
