The G Armor boasted the basic Core Booster frame, but was more heavily armored and housed a more powerful reactor so that it could carry a mobile suit. The project's intention was to create a subflight system much like the Duchy's Dodai, but improve upon it. Not only being able to carrying a mobile suit into battle, the G Armor was a formidable stand-alone unit, capable of holding its own on land and in the air. It incorporated many of the original Gundam's traits, like Luna Titanium and the red and blue paint sceme, but housed the firepower of a small battleship. It was also capable of mounting an array of warheads for sorties or an external fuel cell for longer mission times.
The G Armor was developed by Jamitov Hymem at Side 7 but, like most of his pet projects, was scrapped before it could make it out of the prototype stage. The unit was given to the Federation's top pilot, Cherish Woods after her efforts in space.
Cherish had been instrumental to the efforts of the EFSF in repelling Zeon and establishing a perimeter at the 2 days from Earth line. Known as a brazen hothead, her personal log is full of reports of her disobeying direct orders, as well as sacrificing her own troops in order to make lasting strikes against the enemy. However, it is equally well known that she is one of the best pilots in the Federation, and one of the only ones to pilot and survive in a Saberfish exclusively throughout eleven months of the war. At the time she was given the G Armor, Cherish had recorded over twenty mobile suit kills in an outdated fighter.
