Initiation
Eknara and the first initiate exchanged glances, signifying that they both understood what was to come next. She briefly closed her eyes as she offered a slight nod to Nahuatl.

As she opened them, she heard light and slow footsteps approaching.

A small vial, specially prepared according to each initiate’s body mass, was handed to Eknara. It contained a concentrated dosage of a liquid extracted from a rare beast that roamed Khaotics land.

Eknara took the clear vial from the helper’s hand and offered it with both her hands to Nahuatl. It would help make him more receptive to the parasite, and was Nahuatl’s first real test of commitment.

What was contained in the vial was a very strong paralyzing agent that should kick in within a minute of Nahuatl consuming it. It would be all the time Nahuatl would need to lay down and would help minimize the pain an initiate would experience when first taking in the parasite. Although Nahuatl’s muscles would have no control over his body, he would still be very wide awake during the whole process.

Farewell Aerillia
Chapter 1: Impulsive Decisions

Eknara yawned. “I can’t believe we slept in, Aicatul. Suehprom was far too kind to us last night.” Eknara’s daemon, Aicatul, landed on her left shoulder as the young sorcerer’s apprentice walked into her mentor’s house. It was a huge house that was a little on the modest size and located quietly near the end of the street.

“Shouldn’t have stayed up so late reading,” Aicatul cautioned. His form was that of a Saker’s Falcon, while his human was a young twenty your old girl with brown skin, green hair and ever curious blue eyes.

“I wonder what Prilla’s gonna have us do today. I am so tired of all these boring ‘mandatory’ exercises. I mean when was the last time we actually did something fun and exciting?!” Eknara exclaimed this with a hint of enthusiasm as she clenched her fists before her. As she surveyed the room in search of her mentor she added in a quiet more thoughtful tone, “it’s even been a while since we’ve gone hunting.”

“Study,” Aicatul chimed in.

“Yeah …” Eknara answered, acknowledging that her mentor, Prilla, was probably busy in her study as usual. Eknara approached the designated room and knocked.

“Come in,” welcomed a voice. As Eknara opened the door she was greeted by the sight of a white panther; Prilla’s daemon by the name of Laitmar. Aicatul greeted him as Eknara walked to a table in Prilla’s study. Prilla was obviously very busy working on something and this piqued Eknara’s interest.

“Ooh! What are you working on?” Eknara’s excitement was portrayed in Aicatul’s sudden take-off into the air as he circled the rather large room before zeroing on the table filled with reading material, various instruments and other odd objects Prilla used in her casting.

“Not anything you’re quite yet ready for, my child.” Prilla rolled up some scrolls and closed a rather large book that she was just perusing before turning to Eknara. “Why are you late today?”

An ashamed expression suddenly appeared on Eknara’s face. “I … ummm... that book you lent me on ---”

“You stayed up late reading, didn’t you?” Prilla interrupted.

“It was really interesting though. I mean it went into so much detail on how I could improve the intensity of my fire spells and it talked about so many different kinds of fire spells I could do.” Unable to meet Prilla’s eyes at that moment, she looked down at her feet and shuffled them a bit.

Tardiness was a common habit of Eknara that Prilla was still working on breaking. Eknara had improved over the years under Prilla’s tutelage, but she would always relapse every now and then. Today, she was around an hour and thirty minutes late.

Prilla sighed as she was perfectly aware of this habit of Eknara’s to not be able to put down a good book. She admired the young lady’s enthusiasm in her studies, but the lack of discipline the girl possessed in some areas was still troubling.

Eknara heard the sigh and lifted her head. Her attention once again went towards the large book and scroll that Prilla was now shoving into a desk drawer. ‘First from the top, second from the right. Got it.

“Well, it’s a bit too late to go on that hunt I was going to take you on to work on some long range attacks and concentration skills … so I’m gonna leave you alone with this text for some private study and tests. I have to take care of a few errands. I’ll be back in about three hours.” Prilla handed Eknara a red leather-bound book. “The materials you need are laid out for you over in the other room.” Eknara was not allowed alone in Prilla’s private study.

The young lady eyed the text on the book as her eyes glazed over. ‘I’ve already been through this how many times now?’ she asked herself. ‘I really should have just put that book down earlier last night. That hunt would have been nice …

Eknara was already bored. Aicatul was seemingly dozing off as he eyed some children running on the other side of the study’s windows.

“Okay …” Eknara looked up at Prilla. “I’m really sorry about being late. Can we please go on that hunt tomorrow morning?”

“We’ll see,” Prilla answered and motioned for the young lady to get out. Eknara followed and walked in front of Prilla to the smaller room across from Prilla’s study. She clenched her jaw as she heard Prilla locking the door to the study behind her.

My apologies
I have been ill for the past few days. Today has gotten worse instead of better. I apologize to Scarth and the Khaotics for I will not be able to do anything at this rate.

Initiation
It was a momentous day for the Khaotics. It was the day when new Khaotics were granted the privilege to become one with the hive: The day of the Initiation.

The sun had set a few hours ago. The full moon seemingly took its place and appeared momentarily to shine brightly between the clouds.

Eknara Orkaro looked thoughtfully up at the clouds before walking through a large pair of doors into the building before her.

As was customary for the current commander of the Khaotics, Eknara was the last to enter the hall. The main room was a large circular one with a rather high ceiling and lining up against the wall were the initiates. They were standing tall and straight but with their heads bowed. Each was clad in ceremonial Khaotics wear. For the ceremony, this meant a dark green toga that was especially prepared for each initiate.

At the very center of the room, was a large flatbed with a pillow at its head. It was easily 5 metres (nearly 16.5 feet) long and nearly as wide. Moonlight bathed the entire surface thanks to an opening in the high ceiling, and behind the head of the flatbed was a white opaque jar about half a metre long that contained the parasites.

As was customary for the ceremony, there were to be no words spoken during the event. Any and all communication would either be through body language or carried out by means of the forum that the parasite would establish among the initiates and which Eknara and all other non-initiates there were already joined to.

Eknara, using the hive, spoke with the other Khaotics overseeing the ceremony and confirmed everything was in place. Due to the ceremony, initiated Khaotics were asked to keep the hive perfectly quiet whether or not they sat amongst the observation benches laid out in the large hall.

She nodded and walked to the first initiate that would get the privilege of joining minds with their fellow comrades.

(OOC: Leaving it blank for any non-initiated Khaotics member to join in on ASAP. Currently, the initiated include my character, Radune’s and Daren’s characters per my knowledge).

I'd love the idea of sidequests. Like some possible missions posted up, and if they so choose players can decide to go on a particular mission.

They Are Not Deer
On a bright, clear and cloudless day, two Tragnix were feeding off their favourite fruit amidst a wide opening in the forest. The Tragnix is a hoofed species with three horns on its head, that walks on four limbs. Their fur is brown and even perfectly healthy and well-fed Tragnix give off the appearance of an emaciated animal.

Unbeknown to the peacefully feeding Tragnix, a human from the Brotherhood was eyeing them under cover of a bush.

“Ah, they look like deers,” Saigo quietly exclaimed. “They will prove to be quite tasty, I’m sure.” Saigo deftly withdrew his Namu pistol and aimed. Just as he was about to pull the trigger he noticed a flickering light right behind the Tragnix and stopped.

Caught off-guard, he lowered his pistol, and eyed the place where the light appeared. They, luckily, didn’t seem to notice the flash and were still feeding.

Ten seconds passed, then fifteen, then thirty. Saigo then brought his pistol up to aim again, shrugging off the flicker of light as something caused by either the light wind and the sun reflecting of something or a small animal.

A man suddenly appeared from the tree and bushes behind the Tragnix and waved a lightsabre. Two seconds later, the Tragnix had pranced away.

Saigo stood up, dumbfounded. He, at the very least, recognized the man. “Hikaru?”

Hikaru Striker, about to run off after the deer-like animals, stopped in his tracks when he heard his name called and turned around.

“Kuso!” Saigo cursed in his native tongue. “Hikaru, you just completely ruined my hunt!”

Hikaru, although surprised to find Saigo in this small enclave within the woods, didn’t want to give the animals plenty of time to get out of sight. “Sorry,” he said sincerely. “But I managed to injure one of the animals and it’s bleeding. We need to hurry if we’re to catch them.” Before he could get Saigo’s acknowledgement, Hikaru broke off into a sprint.

Saigo, although still peeved, decided it was better to follow than argue with the guy.

After a few minutes of running, Hikaru stopped behind a bush and signalled to Saigo who was still trailing behind. He pointed to the two Tragnix, just off in the distance. One Tragnix was licking the wound of the other.

“What weapons do you have?” Saigo quietly asked. “If all you have is your sabre, I insist that you let me take a shot. I can down one of these animals without having to approach them and risk scaring them off again, just like you did.”

“Okay,” Hikaru agreed. “I say best to go for the wounded one.”

Both turned to eye the Tragnix again. One Tragnix was applying what looked like chewed leaves onto the wound of its friend. Both men guessed it was some sort of herb used for its healing powers. Hikaru wondered at the intelligence of these animals, because where he was from, deer didn’t do something that required such thought as this.

Saigo fired, and a loud clap reverberated through the forest. Small animals, scared by the sound, either scurried or flew away.

The wounded deer collapsed before blood started trailing from its head.

The remaining Tragnix seemed to whimper at the fall of its friend. A sad, heartbroken look seemed to invade its face, and Hikaru wondered at it.

Saigo smiled. The hunt was a success. As he slowly approached his fallen prey, the remaining Tragnix eyed him. Rage flashed through its eyes as it eyed the pistol Saigo carried, correctly guessing it was the murder weapon, and dove.

Saigo had assumed the remaining animal would have just ran away as he approached, like deers usually do. But before he knew it the Tragnix had impaled him with a horn.

Hikaru ran to the aid of Saigo.

The Tragnix saw him and charged. It was not going to be denied its revenge. As far as it was concerned, the humans had killed its mate and they would pay for it.

Hikaru tried to move away from the charging Tragnix. The Tragnix’ horns missed Hikaru, but a hoof managed to hit at his side and left arm. Luckily, his lightsabre was in his right hand. Hikaru pushed the button on the cylinder of his sabre to activate it. He waved it around erratically as he tried to get on his feet.

The Tragnix eyed the lightsabre, and knowing the damage it could cause from its previous hit to its mate, it slowly backed away from Hikaru.

Hikaru stood up. His left arm wasn’t broken, but it was bleeding some. He eyed the Tragnix and stood in a pose so as to defend himself from another charge with his lightsabre.

The Tragnix got the message and galloped away.

Hikaru let out a breath of relief. He tried to clench his left hand. It moved, accompanied by a lot of pain, but not by much. He was also sure that his left side would show signs of brusing in a matter of hours, but he counted himself lucky.

He walked over to Saigo who was sprawled on the floor, lying on his back.
“Saigo, are you okay?” He eyed a wound on Saigo’s thigh. It was bleeding but not very deep.

“That kisama of a deer! I … I can’t move.”

“I’ll stop the bleeding first. I doubt I can carry you myself, so I’ll lay you somewhere safe and go call for help. Okay?”

“Al..” Saigo stuttered. “Alright. I feel … I feel very sleepy.”

OUTCOME: Hunt Successful, Tragnix slain.
Saigo: 5EXP, Crippled
Hikaru Striker: 5EXP, Wounded

Lizard Meets ... Alien?
Bovril smiled as he eyed his dueling partner, whom he had just met after Rando joining the ‘Ead ‘Unters. “You are puny, Rando.”

Rando glanced slightly up at Bovril. The lizardman was covered in dull aqua green scales with huge talons protruding from his three-toed feet. And unlike Rando who was stark naked, Bovril wore a set of armour that covered his knees, shoulders and chest. Rando certainly didn’t consider himself short for his height, but Rando was a considerable 2.03m/6’8” to his 2.5m/8’2”.

At being insulted thusly, Rando charged toward Bovril in order to prove just how little difference height would make in this duel compared to his raw strength and the forces his rather large body could deal out to the skinnier Bovril.

The humour in Bovril’s red eyes and the smile on his face, didn’t disappear as his agile body moved aside to completely miss the charge. As Rando came to a halt, he took a split second to wonder just where Bovril had fled to before a sharp pain radiated on his back.

Bovril had landed the first hit and did not waste time to land his second. He jumped in the air to try to topple Rando by kicking his head with both feet as Rando tried turning around.

But Rando saw the movement out of the corner of his eyes. His muscular brown arms managed to catch one of Bovril’s feet just in the nick of time. Once Rando had Bovril in his grasp, he flung the lizardman down hard onto the floor.

Bovril’s head hurt like the dickens even though his front took most of the impact. Rando managed to punch Bovril’s right arm before Bovril could manage to roll away. It was Rando’s turn to smile. As Bovril got up, Rando noticed just how much damage his last attack inflicted. He also noticed the panic in Bovril’s eyes.

Bovril could barely feel his right arm as blood trailed down it. He backed away quickly from Rando as he tried to regain his senses.

Rando charged again.

Bovril evaded.

Rando charged once more and barely missed Bovril as the lizardman’s talon’s drew three huge gashes on Rando’s left leg. Bovril tried to couple this last strike with a carefully aimed hit to Rando’s eyes.

Bovril hit Rando’s nose instead. The brown-muscled alien reflexively covered his face with his huge hands. Bovril used this chance to jump into the air and land on Rando’s upper body, effectively forcing Rando’s face to meet the lush grass they were dueling on.

As Bovril jumped a few paces back, Rando got up and spat out the soil and vegetation that had invaded his mouth. “Uggh. I don’t eat grass.”

Bovril was some distance to Rando on his right. Rando charged once more. But this time as Bovril tried to evade, Rando turned mid-charge and managed to hit Bovril square in the chest. He sent the aqua green reptile sliding three metres ahead of him.

Rando waited for his opponent to get up. But Bovril just lay there quietly.

Outcome: Rando wins, Bovril loses.
Rando: 10 EXP. Wounded
Bovril: 10 EXP, Wounded

Personality
Eknara Orkaro is very impulsive and often makes very rash decisions. She is not a very cautious person and often lands herself in quite a bit of trouble. She is rather anti-social, quiet and shy most of the time and rarely speaks up. Because of this, many people do not understand her very well. She is still very respectful to others, especially her elders, and treats everyone she meets with kindness and generosity.

Daemon
In Eknara's world, all humans are accompanied by daemons from the moment of birth until their last breath. A daemon is a physical manifestation of part of a person's soul that takes the form of an animal. The daemon's of pre-adolescents are "unsettled." This means they can change forms. As a person gets older and as their personalities, outlook on life, and temperament and so forth become established, their daemons begin to favour less and less forms such that their daemon forms settle on one form sometime during the end of puberty.

Like most people, Eknara’s daemon’s gender is opposite of her own. His name is Aicatul. He has settled into the form of what looks like a Saker Falcon.

Daemons and humans can not bear separation of great distances between each other. If a daemon and human are separated by a significant distance, this will physically harm both, and usually ends with both seeking comfort by being close to each other again. This distance can be lengthened through training, and especially through magic. Of special note is the fact that a daemon and human can not normally exist without the other. If one is killed, both die. While a human body is left behind after death, the body of a daemon disappears into dust.

History
Eknara is from the world of Aerillia. She was a very enthusiastic sorcerer's apprentice there. So enthusiastic, in fact, that she dabbled in magic that was far beyond her control and understanding. Her latest attempt dealt with portal magic and after a few faulty steps landed her directly into the world of Thracs.

Eknara Orkaro is the youngest child of a couple that own a bar and diner. Being the youngest of four sons and three daughters by at least 10 years meant she was always babied and little was expected of her as she grew up. Her quiet and shy disposition meant she was usually by herself, did little to help out with the diner as her siblings and parents kept busy, and that she made few friends. Two of her brothers, who grew tired of diner work, sought to become merchants as they grew up, while Eknara’s oldest sister married a fisherman. Her older siblings futures and contributions to the family were always encouraged and actively dealt with by her family and parents. But the Orkaro family always seemed to assume that Eknara would always remain a child and that she probably never had any dreams or aspirations herself. So much so that when she voiced that she wanted to study elemental magic at the age of ten it came as a big surprise to the Orkaro family. Unlike the vocations and futures chosen by her siblings, Eknara’s was not encouraged or even considered safe. Nor did they believe she’d be any good at it.

At first, Eknara listened to her family and committed to having nothing to do with magic just as her family wanted. But as the weeks and months passed, she grew more and more resentful of them forcing this decision on her. This feeling of growing resentment was coupled with an increase of allure in the study and practice of magic. After four month had passed she couldn't take it anymore and decided to look for a sorcerer who would give her an apprenticeship without her family's approval or knowledge.

As her family expected very little help from her with their diner, Eknara used the guise of making new friends to leave the house for hours on end day after day. Her parents, relieved that she had succeeded in making good friends, often smiled and were quite happy when she left the house every morning.

The sorcerer, who to Eknara’s surprise, that had taken her in so quickly, was impressed by what little Eknara had taught herself and the power she had in a few simple spells. Her name was Prilla, and although she noticed Eknara’s raw skill and power, she also took note of just how clumsy and often careless Eknara could be. Prilla looked forward to making a good sorcerer out of the girl and saw Eknara as a worthy and gratifying challenge.

A year passed before the Orkaro family got any inkling into Eknara’s real activities. When her secret apprenticeship was no longer a secret it required Prilla’s calming and convincing words to smolder the Orkaro family’s anger before they begrudgingly allowed Eknara to continue her apprenticeship after not allowing the young girl to leave the house for two weeks.

As the years passed, Eknara’s skills and power grew and her clumsiness decreased as she became a young lady. During her studies in magic she also learned how to fight and defend herself; also under Prilla’s tutelage.

One of Eknara’s worst habbits included spying on Prilla’s latest spell and projects. She would often try to reproduce her spells herself even after Prilla warned her of the danger. It was Eknara’s latest foray into magic way beyond her skill that landed her through a broken portal into the world of Thracs.

Aerillia
Aerillia is a world that is as developed as the Middle Ages of Earth. It is lush and full of life, and ruled by many small and large Kingdoms on all habitable continents.

The major difference with Earth’s Middle Ages is that it is a world where magic and the paranormal exist in varying quantity. And where all humans are accompanied by a daemon.

Weaponry
Eknara’s favourite weapon is her butterfly sword. It’s two metres tall and is a copy of the one given to her by Prilla to act as a catalyst in her magic spells. It consists of a steel handle and two protruding blades on either end that swivel in and out to hide the blades from one side of the sword..

Magic
Eknara has been studying elemental (air, earth, fire, water) magic seriously ever since she was ten years old under the tutelage of Prilla, an experienced sorcerer.

Religion
Eknara comes from a religious upbringing and practices a polytheist religion. She is not the most pious believer but will often reference many dieties in her daily life.

(OOC note: Dieties are based on Greek mythology. Names are written backwards. i.e. Athena is called Anehta in Aerillia.)
