The sun was high in Granitewood, shining above the urban slum. It was clear at some point that this region was wealthy, but it had fallen into disrepair. The streets were a dirty cobblestone, the buildings an exercise in the decay of paint. Peasant children of varying races were either gathered at corners, hands outstretched to passing foreigners - or causing trouble playing games of tag and rough housing. In a cafe with gaudy Elven decorations, sunbeams and shadows enveloped a series of umbrellas over tables. There, smiling and gratifying himself, the armored warrior Enki enjoyed a delicacy of local gumbo. Shrimp, marinated in a brown sauce accented with diced celery, onions and bell peppers sat over a bed of rice. Enki had never had something like this; it would make the arduous task of searching for the pig criminal, Squealer, that much easier. A waitress filled a Enki's glass, smiling to the youth, who returned a blank stare. She turned, passing by an Elephant Gun mounted on a plaque and headed into the kitchen. Crossing under hanging beads, the woman dipped her head and got to washing some dishes. Expectedly, a hand emerged from some shadows and rested on her shoulder. "Squealer." The stocky pig demon smiled, and the woman's skin crawled at his attention. "He's here, at the tables in the front. Take care of it away from the cafe, it's bad for business." "Your cooperation is well recieved. We'll see about releasing your brother from prison." Squealer brought up another hand to her other shoulder, only to recieve two strikes from the watiress's hands. "Frisky! I like that." The demon turned, exiting out the back door and into the alleyways behind the cafe. ~ Enki walked the streets, full of food and energy. Street children gathered around him, patting his armor and chirping for hand outs. The armored warrior smiled, moving forward through the sea of kids towards his objective. He paused, kneeling on one leg. The confused children stopped as well, asking him questions and trying to push him. In his mind, Enki connected with the earth. Suddenly, a pulse moved through the ground, cracking it and moving towards a house, causing the front side to drop forward onto the street. A surprised barbarian in a wife beater shirt in front of a tv was revealed, his mouth agape. "Greetings citizen! I am here on behalf of the mayor and -" "I didn't rob nobody!" the man volunteered, running into the remnants of his house and out the back. Enki stopped with a confused expression; it looked like it'd be harder than he thought. Enki left the house, which the children ransacked, dragging out the television, furniture, anything they could get their hands on. Enki returned to the center of the street, sending out another crack to a house, the front falling in the same way. A balding man with glasses sat in front of a well maintained dining room table, flanked by what appeared to be his wife and son. "Greeting citizen! I am here on behalf of the mayor and would like to know if you've seen a pig creature around here! He's wanted for questioning on suspicion of terrorism." The man blinked, chewing food and swallowing it. Then, quietly, he got up from his chair, as did his family, and hand in hand they moved to the back. The young boy looked over his shoulder, then pulled away and ran towards Enki. "I've heard of him. They say he hangs out at the cafe down the street." Enki blinked. The cafe! How could he have missed him? Enki patted the kid's head and thanked him. Again, he returned to the street and got down on a knee, sending another shockwave towards a house. The front dropped cleanly, trailed by a cloud of steam. There, in a front bathroom, and Elven woman close to Enki's age had been showering. Enki blinked, speechless, and the woman returned a stare - before throwing a shampoo bottle at Enki's head, screaming in a foreign language he didn't understand and fleeing in a towel. Meanwhile, behind the first house, the barbarian spoke to Squealer, who nodded as he spoke. Squealer passed the man a paltry sum to repair his home, and then turned to another - the balding man from the second house. They spoke to each other in hushed tones, discussing how they'd deal with the interloper, settling on their assassin. She arrived soon later in a leather catsuit, drying her hair in a towel. She whispered to a young kid, who ran out into the street. Enki knelt down again, but the mob of street children mobbed him. They yelled and pounded him with their fists, a few pulling their hands in pain at the impervious armor. Enki stopped, raising his hands to protect his head and doing his best to keep the children from him. He tried to talk, but they were insatiable. Suddenly, he felt a pulse from the earth, and turned to the alleyway the children had emerged from. The elf woman ran towards him, unnaturally fast and underhanded two balls towards him. Enki saw them approach - grenades! Slamming both hands onto the ground, the ground cracked open. The grenades fell moments before exploding, safe within the earth. The kids fled in disarray from the loud noise. Enki looked up at the woman, and started to speak - but she was cooking a grenade in her hands. She threw it and it exploded directly above Enki, shrapnel raining down on him and scorching the ground. A plume of smoke clouded him for an instant, and the elf woman thought she had succeeded. But there Enki stood, unphased in his trusty armor. Slamming a foot on the ground, a sinkhole opened below the woman and dropped her in a hole 10 feet high. She gritted her teeth, wet hair still clinging to her face. Enki looked forward, suddenly spotting a pig creature watching pensively from the alley, but was rocked forward with an incredible power. Behind him, the waitress had arrived, a smoking Elephant Gun in her hands. Enki fell into the hole he created, and the woman followed at the lip. She reloaded the gun and prepared to take out both him and the Elf girl, but a tap on the wall from Enki rocked her forward and caused her to fall in the pit, straight into Enki's arms. She looked at his eyes, afraid for a few brief moments, then narrowed her eyes and slapped him. With a loud wail, she held her now sore hand. The mayor's multinational militia arrived with the sound of sirens, bumping over the cracked street and debris. They gathered at the lip of the pit, aiming weapons at the three persons. The mayor stepped forward, stepping through his green-fatigued lackeys, smoking a cigar. Enki began to report, but the mayor closed his eyes. "Take them all into custody." Outcome: Mission Failed Enki: 5EXP, 5FAME, 3-DAMAGE, +1REP SQUEALER Edited by scarththegrim, Aug 5 2011, 08:55 PM.
