Alexander's hands brushed against his beard lightly as he finished buttoning his officers jacket. As he finished he looked at himself carefully in the small mirror he had for himself in his quarters. His hands moved with careful precision as he fixed any obvious wrinkles or problems he could find. Today was going to be a tough day for Alexander as he was going to conduct a unscheduled inspection on his crew and ship. After all with the EFSF's Naval review coming up at Konpei Island he wanted his ship and crew to be at there best. They should already be doing their best anyway The thought almost brought a small grin to his face as he gave himself a final once over in the mirror and he turned to leave his quarters.
As his door closed behind him Alexander turned left and began walking towards the bridge. With his hands clasped behind his back he gave a small nod to any of the crew he passed. He turned right down a hallway and could see the bridge entrance ahead of him. As he walked he let one of his hands trail against the corridor wall. The Polaris was a fine ship and he was pleased to have been assigned her. He put his musing asides as he stepped into the bridge. Normally he would have walked in and taken his seat and asked for a report, but today he stayed just by the entrance and watched.
Alexander looked for any signs of negligence or carelessness but activity on the bridge seemed to just business as usual. After a few minutes he moved forward and calmly walked through the bridge. He would stop every now and then at a station and lean forward to look at their screen and ask a few questions, but he would never linger to long. As he finished his tour of the bridge he gave a small nod of satisfaction to himself. So far so good he turned and left the bridge with that thought giving a small nod to his XO as he left.
His inspections of the secondary bridge, engine room and the rest of the ship went much the same. Alexander should have felt pleased, and on some level he did but he mostly felt concern. He stopped by the ships cafeteria and got himself a cup of coffee as he mused. It's hard to believe its been three years already. The One Year War seems like it had only ended just yesterday, and though the Federation had won, Alexander couldn't help but feel things haven't really changed. The Federation had beaten Zeon, and after the fact things just seemed business as usual.
Stagnation Alexander sipped his coffee as that word popped into his mind. Perhaps he was just being paranoid, looking over his shoulder for an enemy that had been tamed. Finishing his coffee he stood up and threw the cup away. Regardless his crew seemed to be performing well for the time being. He would still probably give an announcement later on in the day to encourage them to always be diligent and focused, and maybe if he was lucky his ship would get a good placement in the review.
That thought lifted his mood slightly and he began making his way back to the bridge to get a detailed report of the ships status from his XO and then see about making that announcement.

(A picture from his days in high school) Name: Richard (Prefers Rich, abhors Richie and Dick) Pelkan Age: 22 Appearance: Stands at roughly 6 feet, but perpetually slouches with poor posture. Hair is red, shorter than pictured, but still at the maximum acceptable federation length. Eyes are blue. Fairly thin and lanky build, not exactly in athletic shape. Personality: Friendly and outgoing to all. Tries to avoid drama and fights, but extends friendship and hospitality. Always humble, and very jokingly self-deprecating. Mostly tries to stay positive to stave off the rigors and nightmares of war. Backstory: Pelkan was born to a middle class family on Side 7. He grew up with the early goal of studying history. Pelkan spent much of his life in libraries and museums, actually studying for fun. However, when he graduated High School in early 0079, he could not afford to attend the prestigious Von Braun university as he had always dreamed. Sadly, the only option for Pelkan was military service. And so, Richard Pelkan entered the One Year War. In the OYW, Pelkan had three goals. First, don't die. Second, earn enough money to go as far as getting his masters. Third, don't die. (It was so important it warranted repeating) He did a good job, evidenced by him not being dead. Pelkan's only real ambition was (And still is) to save up enough to escape the military, and when he heard that mobile suit pilots got a pay raise, he jumped at the call. In combat, Pelkan not only survived by his own skill, which was fairly average, but also a great deal of luck. After the war, Pelkan mostly tried to go where the money was, making a good bit of extra money by piloting prototype suits. As of 0083, he is piloting the prototype Gabaldy Beta at 5th Luna. He has done the math, and knows that by the end of the year, he will hopefully be able to formally resign and enroll in Von Braun, assuming no crisis ever breaks out...

The intoxicated woman was still trying to identify the source of the sharp noise when her mate for the night nearly came crashing down on top of her. This may have been for the best; she was too out of it to know for certain whether or not she had just been dreaming up the noise. With a man suddenly within reach though other thoughts were on her mind.
"Oooohhhh dijjj mistah Powdah Jim get ah boo boo?" she purred while shifting over to embrace him from behind. The blanket that had been covering her earlier slid from the bed and landed in a crumpled pile on the door side of the bed. She did not mind though. Rem's body had all the heat that she could want and more. Her lipstick smudged lips quickly planted what she thought was a seductive kiss on the back of the man's neck. It was instead a sloppy mess on par with something from man's best friend.
Before they could continue though there was a sudden soft knock at the door. At once the woman on the bed froze stiff. "Molly," a sweet voice called out in a loud whisper, "are you decent?" Another soft knock came as the woman on the bed clumsily tried to shove Rem away from her while simultaneously scanning for her top.

At the same time, the bathroom door swung open, the sound of water swirling down the toilet fading into the silence of night. Rem stood in the doorway in his boxers, feeling a cool breeze from the open window.
"Ahhh.... that's nice on a night like tonight..." He muttered sleepily, it had been a good night after all. His bare feet thudded lightly across the bedroom floor, almost back to the bed when Rem's eyes went wide.
"SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!! He muffled the yell through gritted teeth and he hopped on one foot holding the other in pain and staring down as the broken shard of glass stuck in his foot. After about four hops, he lost his balance and plopped back onto the soft bed, jostling the sleeping woman. Teeth grinding, he picked the shard from his foot and glared at it. Something seemed wrong about this, but he wasn't sure what.

He froze. It was hot as fuck in the room, but he was completely frozen. Between beats of his heart he could hear movement on the bed and he dared not even breath. He adjusted the checkered bandanna covering his face, making sure it was tight before he took his first breath inside the room. It smelled like liquor. As his eyes adapted to the room he began to make out the features of the spartan room. Quietly he laid there several minutes before rolling up to his feet, his long mane of blonde hair laying against the back of his black shirt, and peaking his head over the edge of the beds foot.
She was asleep. Fast asleep, mostly exposed, and covered in sweat. Hot. This would definitely win him the bet. Carefully he pulled the camera from his pocket while surveying the desk. His eyes fell on the gun laying next to a bottle, what Link guessed was the source of the smell. Link hadn't intended to disturb her personal affects, but he couldn't leave a gun easily accessible while he snapped his pictures. That was just asking for a disaster. With cautious steps he rounded the bed, watching her for signs of life, and snatched the pistol. The barrel tapped the neck of the bottle sent it somersaulting over the edge.
He reacted fast and attempted to catch the bottle, but with pistol in one hand and the tiny camera in the other it became a disaster. Instead of just falling and hitting the ground it was smashed into the floor, shattering the bottle. Panicking he dropped to the ground and rolled under the bed, pistol and camera in hand.

The more than slightly audible thud barely registered with the woman lying prone in the puddle of her sweat just a foot from the window. Barely does not mean that it went unnoticed though. She made a pitiful groan beneath the sticky web of her long auburn hair and then clumsily kicked the blanket covering her body down enough to expose the majority of her slender bare back. Some kind of tribal design peeked out at the intruder but the sheets and darkness ensured that it was for the most part concealed.
Besides that, the room was otherwise unremarkable. Directly across from the window was the foot of a bed, to the left of that a desk, and to the right of it two doors that led to the hallway and a small bathroom.
The bed was hardly disturbed. The blanket that now adorned the woman lying in front of the window was missing from it, and the sheets on the side closest to the door were slightly disheveled, but it was otherwise apparent that it had not been used for long yet. The desk chair had an officer's jacket placed neatly over it, and on the desk itself a gun and its holster sat precariously close to a half empty bottle of some generic alcohol.

"This is a dumb idea, who thought it up?" Link grumbled as he scaled the outside of the building.
"It was yours," Kenna dryly chimed in over Link's ear piece.
"Who asked you? Fuck," he complained. They managed to get their hands on some gear for climbing buildings from the ranger units stationed at Torrington at a hefty cost. Kenna needed to go on a diet anyway, "the fat fuck."
"What was that?"
"What?"
"Did you call me fat?"
"Man, I don't know what you're talking about. Now shut up or they'll catch us." It was such a stupid idea. They needed a place to practice and the only good place was attached to the officer's club, which they obviously were not, so they made a bet to get access. They just had to get some candid shots of the new colonel that was only going to be staying around for a few days before she left and they could have the room every Thursday night. Pretty sweet deal, right? Not really, if they failed they'd have to go streaking across the installation with the White Dingo logo on their asses. Really lame. Really fucking lame. At least it wasn't all bad. The architect of the building got fancy by placing the bricks at various depths to give a natural textured pattern and with the special gloves and boots from the Rangers the building was easy to climb, "unless you're a fat fuck."
"No way, man, I heard you that time!" Down below Kenna started complaining again about the twenty or forty pounds he had put on since basic training.
"Quit your bitchin' and look out for someone. We only get one shot at this." Several expletives were mentally added about how fat Kenna had become. At least Kenna was good for somethings, Link noted as he approached the open window that should be their dear colonels. Earlier in the morning Kenna had managed to sabotage the cooling unit to the entire building and with everyone out all day long the windows remained close to build up with the heat of the Aussie sun. Now with the outside temperature quickly dropping with nightfall all of the officers had opened their windows to cool off. Link chuckled as he thought about possible getting a little extra in the photo shoot.
"Fuck, dude, patrol," Kenna whispered. Link stole a look down to see two people with flashlights approaching. One checking the ground levels, the other the side of the building. Faintly he could make out the rotund shape of Kenna attempting to sneak away.
"Hey, what are you doing?" The light at ground level caught Kenna full on and he stared like a deer in headlights before bolting for it. Run, tubby, run. One followed, the other hung back to call it in and sweep the area.
Link quickly lunged for the window sill, catching the edge of it with his fingertips and hauled himself half way into the dark room with the first attempt with the help of his dear friend adrenaline. The light outlined the edges of the window just after he flipped his lower body in to drop him prone on the floor with a more than slightly audible thump.
