Writers are the lifeblood of any PBEM RPG. The games wouldn't be any fun without the writing, and without writers we wouldn't be able to sustain a high level of quality for very long.
What I'm shooting for is four professional staff writers, two on EF, and two on Zeon. They will be paid in RP both on a staff salary and on a per-battle-written basis (50 RP per week + 50 RP per battle written.) Other people can be backup writers, who can step in if staff writers are absent. I can always use backup writers. Backup writers will be paid per battle, but do not get the staff salary.
However, my staff writers have to meet a set of standards, the least of which is quality writing. OYW is an extremely tactical game, and the outcome of a battle one day can totally change what actions people take the next day. Because of this, updates have to be finished on time, and battles have to be written on time.
What I require of a staff writer is the following -
#1 - You can be on every update day, ready to write, at 6 PM Pacific. The email deadline is 5:30 PM, and it takes me about 30 minutes to organize all the emails and figure out who gets what battle.
#2 - You can finish one battle or small event before 9 PM Pacific, allowing me adequate time to update. I try my best to only give writers one battle apiece, but on bad days you may have to write more than one in the same time period.
#3 - You can understand and follow our battle formatting rules.
These three things are more important than quality writing, because they keep the RPG running smoothly. We can teach somebody how to be a quality writer over the course of a game, but if you have a scheduling problem with work or school or if you're just a naturally lazy person, I can't have you on my staff. I understand absences and I don't punish writers if they miss a day, but tardy/absent writers damages the game, and I want to prevent that as much as possible.
If you don't have any scheduling problems and you're interested in helping out, please post here. We will be having more official tryouts through next week.
Thanks for your help, as always.
