Main Character:
Name: Nigel Ferdinand, The Prince of Orange, Prince of the Netherlands, Prince of Orange-Nassau, Jonkheer van Amsberg
Rank: 2nd Lieutenant
Birthday: 0048.10.5
Short Profile: (This could also be considered the common knowledge profile.)
Prince Nigel Ferdinand is the oldest son of Queen Margrethe III and King Alexander Ferdinand (deceased) and is heir apparent to the Dutch Throne. He currently commands the 42nd Brigade (Brigade Verkennings Eskadron) in the 4th Hussars. The 4th Hussars Regiment (Regiment Huzaren van Boreel) are a Royal Netherlands Army regiment provided to the EF.
Soft spoken and generally well meaning the Prince of Orange is not well suited for combat, however his unit is considered the pride of the Dutch. Beloved for the most part by his people the Prince is considered a national treasure. However, this is mostly due to the fact that everyone hopes the Prince lives up to the standards set by his father, who was a legendary war hero.
Personality Profile: (This is mostly intended for battle writers and characters who know Nigel well.)
Nigel is very proud of his title and has been brought up to be a well meaning lord of his people. Beloved by most of his people, he is very well thought of for his generosity towards the commoners of his nation. Considered the most eligible bachelor within the Netherlands and a prize of the nation, it was surprising when his mother encouraged him to follow in his dead father's footsteps and serve in the armed forces in such a time of war.
Nigel is not a warrior in any sense. The men of the 42nd have begun to call him 'Foxhole Ferdinand' due to his distinct strategy of leading from the rear. Strategy is not one of Nigel's strong points either, often forgetting important details, which many men in the 42nd battalion worry might cause the loss of many a man under his command.
This doesn't mean though, that Nigel cares not for his men. The idea as a whole of combat scares Nigel deeply (but he tries his best to hide it from his men), but what dreads him more is the guilt of possibly causing the death of all of his men.
For his own safety (and those in his unit), Nigel has been recently given "command" of the 42nd's first support aircraft, a Medea called the Benedictus. This has allowed Joe Dzurik, to take most command of the 42nd infantry leaving Nigel to deal with the command of the Medea in combat. This still hasn't proved satisfactory as Nigel has a slight fear of getting shot down in the aircraft as he feels like he is a giant target and always keeps a parachute nearby while on the aircraft.
Dark Secrets: (These would be the things almost no one knows)
Nigel has produced a bastard child named Phillip who should be the rightful heir to the throne, but due to the social standings of the mother (Melissa Williams) and the fact that the child was conceived out of wedlock it is not claimed. Nigel is still deeply in love with Melissa, and despite the forbidding by his mother still sees her on occasion. Queen Margrethe blames this for Nigel still not getting married to a proper woman.
