The room was quiet in a cozy sort of way, despite is utilitarian purposes. A small bed in one corner was surrounded by rumpled linens and a scattering of books. There was a nightstand with a clock, a floor lamp and a reading chair. Along one wall was a window revealing the haunting lunar landscape beyond Granada, and along the door wall was a computer station, which was where a blonde woman sat, reading something on the computer.
A touch on the shoulder was enough to rouse Siobhan's attention. She looked to her left, catching a flash of raven-black hair and a pair of bright green eyes. The mouth they shared a face with was curled in a shy sort of smile - one that could only rouse a matching one from the blond woman.
"Hello, Florian. "
Florian answered the way he always answered, which was to not answer at all. Instead, the slight young man threw his arms around her in a hug. Siobhan, of course, responded in kind, caressing the back of his head with one hand. She was a bit startled by Florian's gesture. He was affectionate, but rarely this much.
Of course he had an ulterior motive, and Shiv noticed too late that his gaze was facing the computer terminal she'd been working at seconds before. By the speed his eyes were moving, he'd read most of the screen already. And as that gaze turned up to her, Shiv couldn't help a sigh.
Florian pointed at the screen, specifically at he word "Dispatch". Silent though he was, Florian wasn't stupid.
"Yes, Florian." Siobhan said, "that's for you."
For once, she could not read his look. Somewhere between nervous and excited. Anxious, she thought, might have been the closest word. Florian reached over and scrolled down the letter, obviously instructions for Shiv, but the cat was out of the bag at this point, and so she didn't protest this.
A moment later and Florian's eyes turned back up to her, his embrace getting slightly tighter. There was a great worry radiating from him, and it took Siobhan no time to realize where he was reading on the order. "I know, I know. I have to go away for a few days. But it will only be a few days, I promise. It's to make sure everyone will be ready for you."
This seemed to do little to change his mood. Shiv wasn't surprised though. Florian was always like this; likely always would be. She tried to get up, but the young man made a small yelp of protest and redoubled his grip.
"Florian," Siobhan said softly, getting him to look at her once again, "Your bed awaits..."
Immediately, his eyes took on a half lidded look, and his grip on her went slack enough for her to pull him off, then too his feet and, as she promised, half- dragged the boy to his nearby bed, whereupon he promptly dropped off to sleep.
Sometimes, Shiv loved Florian's keywords. She hated leaving him like this, and she knew he'd be devastated when he woke up. But this made it easier. She had a rondevouz with Florian's eventual commanding officer, and by damned if she was going to be late for it.
