Emil was sitting on the shuttle on it's way to the base where he was going to get stationed. People on it were doing what they could to make the time go faster, playing cards, listening to music or just sleeping. Emil was tired enough and figured that he should rest while he still could, so there he was, dozing off, dreaming about what had happened until now..
The waiting room in the base was empty, except for Emil. He was sure this was where he was told to go, but he weren't told how long he had to wait, so there he was, just looking around. He tried reading some magazines, but they all seemed to carry the same message, "Crush the Zeeks!", "Beat the Zabis!", "Smash the Zakus!". Emil sighed, and figured that those magazines wouldn't make him any less bored.
Suddenly one of the doors opened, and a tall, beautiful woman entered the room.
"You wouldn't happen to be.."
The woman fixed her glasses and checked the paper she brought with her.
"You wouldn't happen to be Emil Myberg, would you?"
Emil answered nervously. After he answered, she sat down next to him.
"Where is this world going.. Are we really sending people as young as you out on the battlefield?" she asked.
Emil just looked away while answering. "Look who's talking, you can't be much older than me yourself"
The woman giggled a bit. "Thanks, but where's my manners.."
She stretched out her hand. "I'm Laura Glensburg, nice to meet you"
"I'm a bit of a jack of all trades around here, if there's anything you need, talk to me, alright?"
She seems like a reliable person, and Emil lightened up a little while shaking her hand.
After they had talked for a while, she asked him if he knew why he was there.
"Yeah, MS simulation, right? To see if I fit in the space or ground forces?" he answered.
"Don't worry, I'm sure you'll do fine. Although, I still have problems with sending a young man like yourself out to fight.."
She leads him into the room, and as soon as he went through the door, he heard a voice. "'Ey."
It didn't stop. "'Ey mate, is this seat free?"
Emil, newly woken up by this rough voice gives the man the answer he wants. "Sure, sit here if you want to"
"The earth really is beautiful from all the way up here."
