It really wasn't up to his normal standards and the impatience was quite visible across the face of the Prince of Orange.
You think with all this training they would be so much faster, thought Nigel as tapped a finger impatiently on the desk.
Sitting up in his chair, Nigel stared across the room and the grizzly medium built officer in front of him.
"Do you think they reached their target yet?" questioned Nigel yet again.
"My Lord, I am certain they have reached it, and are on their way back safe and sound." responded the officer.
"Thanks, Joe. You are always there to calm me in the worst of situations, " replied Nigel as he continued to thump the table harder with his finger.
Raising the blinds of the window looking out over the dark runway, 1st Lieutenant Joe Dzurik smiled for a moment before returning to his serious demeanor. Joe turned towards Nigel and began to speak, "My Lord, they have landed, if you," but was stopped short as Nigel burst towards the door.
The landing lights on the Benedictus gave light to an otherwise dark runway in Normandy region of France and the sight of them instantly brought a broad smile across the face of the Prince.
"There she is," said Nigel to Joe who was just making his way out of the small military office building attached to a series of makeshift hangers.
The Medea made its way towards the hanger, and soon cut off its engines just outside of it. Several men began shuffling around equipment and preparing to unload cargo from the aircraft. A stream of figures in the dark soon began to unload from the rear of the craft and with a brisk nod, Nigel showed his farewell to Joe and immediately proceeded off in the distance to the craft.
Passing by Nigel on their way two soldier in full combat gear saluted the Prince before making their way to Joe who was obviously waiting to speak to the two.
"Private Davis, Private Rhea" said Joe in a very serious tone, staring down each of the solders before speaking again, "Did you get the rings?"
"I couldn't find much considering the budget, I hope that are to his standards," said Private Mike Rhea.
"We found the priest where you said he would be though," added Private Jeff Davis.
"Very Well, did anyone notice you?" questioned Joe with a very serious tone. "You know what would happen if they know we did this don't you."
"Well.." started Jeff, but was quickly taken over Mike who finished his sentence, "They didn't see us... but they did see them escaping."
"Damn it! What happened!" demanded Joe.
"We couldn't get to them in time so we had no choice but to prevent the assassins from doing anything. Probably five or six down, " explained Mike.
"None of them were..." continued Joe.
"No, none of them were nobles, " said Jeff who was looking around a bit nervously.
"Good that would complicate this situation even more," said Joe who was staring off in the distant at four figures. Two of them facing each other with a small figure of a boy between them. After the two figures exchanged objects between their two hands, they proceeded to kiss, which brought at least a small amount of relief to the three soldiers standing in the dark.
"Well we swore to protect the royal family, and that we shall. Find a hidden place for Phillip and Mellisa to spend the evening. This isn't over yet," ordered Joe as he walked back towards office where he would wait for Nigel to return.
