"This doesn't look right, we should have seen them by now," said Nigel a little nervous as he stared out the cockpit window of the Benedictus. "Did we miss the drop zone?"
"No sir, its just ahead," stated the navigator, pointing to the map.
"We have just entered an M-Particle field sir, " said the Pilot as he leaned forward to adjust some nobs on the Medea's panel.
"Climb higher, we need to get out of their range," said the Prince of Orange in a slightly paniced voice.
"Yes sir, " said the pilot.
The Benedictus climbed higher suddenly, causing Nigel's stomach to turn slightly. It continued to gain altitude till the Navigator spoke up saying. "We are almost over the dropzone, ordering drop in 5... 4... 3... 2... 1... Green light is on."
In the rear of the aircraft, the door slid open and the 42nd Brigade began to make their way out the door. Lieutenant Dzurik was the last to hit the door and knew at that instant that this wasn't right. The men of the 42nd Brigade were being blown off target due to the extra altitude and rather then landing in the small meadow they were being pushed into the forest to the south. The extra time in the air also gave a chance for the opposing side in the war games to quickly surround them. The first platoon was met by a GM, who appeared quickly from over the edge of a hill just beyond the forest. Unable to retrieve their anti-armor weapons which had been stuck at the top of a tree, they stood no chance in these war games and were deemed a killed unit. The 2nd and 3rd Platoon fared equally poorly, were met by a group of Type 61s supported by three platoons of infantry and despite their best efforts were eventually all "killed" as well. It took the whole brigade several hours demoralized in trucks to get back to the airfield.
Immediately upon arrival Lieutenant Dzurik made his way to the office of Prince Ferdinand. Not knocking like he normally does he barged into Nigel's office making Nigel jump.
"If that was actually combat, you just got us all killed. Luckily all you have done instead is demoralize the all of your men right before going into combat, " yelled Joe. "This men work their ass off for you and you are worried about getting shot at when you have steel plates of armor protecting you."
"I... " said Nigel attempting to speak up, but he was quickly smothered by Joe.
"You see how thick this is?" said Joe while he tugged on his uniform. "This is just a tad bit of cloth. You see aircraft out there? Plates of metal. Grow a pair."
Nigel attempted to respond again, but Joe already made his way out the door slamming it shut.
