Jane stood in the hangar of the Dignity staring at her GM S, that she had already managed to trash a week after being assigned to the Mobile Suit. Mechanics had already begun working on repairs. She was most displeased, not at the fact that the suit had been damaged, but the fact that she was made to look like a fool by Zakus boasting pink color schemes.
"Please move." Came a voice, interrupting her thoughts.
"Huh?" she asked, coming out of a daze of confusion.
"You are in the way, I need to get through." Said one of the head mechanics.
“Oh, sorry.” she replied, distancing herself from the GM.
It had been a couple days since she joined the 42nd Brigade, and a lot was on her mind. While making her way towards the ship captain, she thinks about the most troubling of things. She wondered on the whereabouts of her Jack Murphy, and how long it would take her to get out of debt. There was one other thing, but she didn’t want to think about it. She had been avoiding it for the longest time, but it was sure to reappear in her life soon enough.
As she arrived at the bridge, she requested to see the captain to inquire about her luggage. She was of course directed to the recruitment officer on board. Her misconduct was forgiven as she was new, despite getting a few laughs.
“Did my luggage come in yet?” she asked. “Jane Sheppard.” she added.
“From Jaburo? Correct?” asks the officer.
“Yeah, that’s me.” confirmed Jane.
“Here you go, Mrs. Sheppard.” replied the officer, handing her a briefcase and small suitcase.
“Its Miss. Thanks” Jane snapped back, after getting her things.
She then heads towards her quarters to unpack. Upon opening the briefcase, she sees the M1911A1 pistol she used when she was a detective in Vegas. Her father was the one who bought her the gun, and taught her how to use it. It had seen many days, and had been her good luck charm of sorts. The gun was chromed and given a pearl handle. She changed it appearance to keep her from thinking about her father, as she greatly regretted neglecting him all those years.
“Attention Jane Sheppard. Please Report to the armory.” blared on the intercoms.
Instantly, she grabbed the gun and concealed it into her holster.
As soon as she arrived, she was informed of an infantry assault she could assist with.
“As you are solely a test pilot, its completely optional..” Informed the Dignity’s captain.
“I’m down.” she replied, most confidently.
“Well then, here’s your standard issue Beretta 92. Remember, your sole purpose is backup and that is it. No heroics as we need a pilot for the GM S.” replied the Captain.
“Thanks, but I got my own pea shooter.” she replies, revealing the M1911A1 tucked into her holster.
“Very well then.” he says, taking back the Beretta. “Don’t forget to suit up, pick out some Kevlar.”
Jane nodded, and picked out a class IV standard issue combat vest. She also picked out a couple reinforced armor plates to protect her from knife stabs, if it came to that. She was extremely in shape, and often worked out to keep herself in peak condition. The added weight was nothing she couldn’t handle, as he prided herself on her fitness.
As she was done arming up, she met up with the marines. She was curious how they would react to her company.
