Some things never changed, and the Duchy’s military had yet again disappointed the Schutzstaffel officer. Xavier’s face displayed his discontent vividly as he frowned at the circus he had just witnessed – Gihren would have never accepted this kind of results. The officer couldn’t help but shake his head as he sat silently on the bridge of the Ashray. As far as he was concerned, it had not been worth his efforts to engage after such a failure, had the second lieutenant been under his command, he wouldn’t have been afforded the chance to repeat the day’s actions.
“What a waste of my time… It is not my job to baby sit their incompetent officers. I don't even want to know who signed off that poor bastard's promotion...” He growled as he took a few steps forward, stopping next to the young Schutzstaffel agent.
Up to this point Marina had efficiently run the ship, not disappointing the officer in the least, but she was slightly disappointed to have not received the order to engage. The young girl kept the Ashray running silent at a safe distance from the mess that second lieutenant Shoji had gotten their force into. Even though she yearned to prove her worth in live action, she wasn’t stupid and was well aware that the day was a lost cause. She looked to Hauptscharfuhrer Brennan as he came to stand next to her.
He paused for a second as she seemed to morph into Ariel before his very eyes, then almost instantly back to the young Captain Marina Nimue. Rubbing his temple, he shook his head and looked down at the blond girl. A slight smile ran across his face before getting to business. “Get us out of here Captain Nimue. We are disengaging from this circus of a fleet… we have business elsewhere, Gihren himself has requested us to mobilize.”
A wide smile spread across the young girls face and her blue eyes lit up as she turned to her crew. While she was very much a young, excitable girl, she was every bit one of Gihren’s finest and it showed in how she carried herself and her handling of the ship. She quickly transformed from the grinning little girl that reminded Xavier so much of his deceased daughter, to a stern and slightly intimidating Schutzstaffel officer, barking orders and getting them on course.
“Five degrees down bubble… set course, heading due west. Get us out of this mess. We are to disengage from our former fleet. I am bringing the intended target up on screen now, keep us running fast and silent, we have a schedule to meet men!” Her fingers flew across the computer screen, plotting their intended course, sending it to every screen on the bridge for all to see. Before Xavier knew it, they were well on their way – and it couldn’t have come any sooner, the officer was eager to leave this mess behind.
“That’s some girl, eh X?” Alexander stepped out of the shadows as Xavier walked back to his quarters. Brennan rolled his eyes and gave his second in command a stern look. “Don’t think about it Alex… and stop sneaking around in the shadows, its not very becoming of you… you creepy bastard.” The Hauptscharfuhrer just grinned as Alexander’s face was painted with shock.
“Oh, that hurts… Ya old grump.”
