This was like nothing Sir William Poe had ever seen in his twenty years as an investigator. It was simply a blood bath, with splatters of blood all over the room. However, from everything they had tried so far it seemed that no form of evidence was able to be found. It was nothing new for him, he had been several 'cold cases' in the past and was famous through out the Netherlands for solving such cases. This was different, this was personal to him and the whole weight of the country laid on his shoulders. The Queen who had knighted him laid in a shriveled bloody mass on the floor.
That puncture wound is out of place, and different from the rest, thought William as he looked at the right arm of the mutilated Queen's body. Queen Margrethe the third's body had been stabbed the most out of all the bodies scattered over the room.
"It appears like Anna was raped," said another detective in a uniform as he was laying over the equally mutilated body of the Princess.
"You are kidding me, Evan," said William as he stood up and walked over to the broken body of the princess.
"So, almost the entire royal family is killed and she is raped and there isn't a witness and no one reports a sound," continued William as he scanned the blood covered body of the girl.
"When first hearing about this, I thought this was poltiically motivated, but this.... this had to of been someone who was crazy." said Evan as pulled up the sleeve on one arm of the princess.
"Stop," said William as he noticed something on the arm of the Princess.
"What?" questioned Evan as he examined the arm yet again.
"Puncture wound, from a needle right there." said William as indicated a spot between two knife wounds.
"Geese, you are right," said Evan as he leaned over the arm staring at it for a moment. "How in the world did you manage to see that?"
Leaving the question unanswered William stood and walked away making his way over to the point where the murderer had slipped into the room.
"So, the guy slips into the royal compound by shooting two guards with a silenced pistol, slips into the compound. Makes his way up to the wall over here," said William as he stood out on the balcony just outside the royal bed chambers.
Making his way back into the bedroom Williams continued, "He then slips into the royal bedroom where he finds, the Queen laying in bed." William began to make his way over towards the bed in the middle of the room then continued, "He injects her with a needle, knocking her out cold." as he made a stabbing motion.
"He then turns makes his way to the bathroom door over here, where he waits," said Williams as he walked over the face down body of Master Key on the floor towards the bathroom.
"The Queen looks just like she is sleeping still on the bed and Master Key finds nothing out of the ordinary, and walks slowly out of the bathroom." continued Williams as he raised his voice in excitement.
"The culprit then moves out and stabs Master Key." said William as his story of the events rolled out of his mouth. "But then.." said Master Key as he moved towards the far side of the room, and the door to the room where he stopped to think.
"I don't know see any needle marks on Master Key," said Evan as he scanned the arms of the elderly man.
William turned with a frown on his face thinking still then said, "Well check his neck."
Evan lifted the stiff body of Master Key slightly with his hand then responded, "Oh, you are right, there it is."
"Why did Anna show up? Luck? It seems odd." said William as he stared back at the almost unrecognizable body of the princess.
"Maybe she was the first one knocked out?" said Evan as rose up to look at the entry area of the house again.
"No, the Queen was in the bed, she would have noticed and someone would have had to make a noise." said William with a frown. "The murderer would to have known that the Princess was coming."
"How can you tell that?" said Evan as he stood up again and moved towards William.
"There was a small struggle by the door. The rug is kicked up over there." said William as he made his towards the area of the door. He then turned and looked towards the Princess.
"Then see, the way the fibers on that rug are all going one direction?" continued William as he walked towards the body of Anna again as a photographer followed him around photographing each thing he had talked about.
"This clearly shows that her body was dragged across the room to this location." said William as he then turned and made his way back to the Queen.
"She was strangled," said William as he examined the neck of the Queen."This wasn't political, this was personal."
There was something strange about the way the Queen was strangled and it took even William a moment staring at it to quite figure it out.
Was the killer missing a finger, thought Williams as he made a motion with his hands like he was choking someone from behind.
Suddenly, someone burst into the room in a Military Police uniform, with some sort of urgent news.
"Robert is still alive, thank god." said the soldier in an announcement to the whole room. "There was an attempt on his life last night as well."
Everyone in the room gave out a short sigh of relief that the entire royal family had not been killed in a matter of days.
William however, was still continuing his work and made his way towards the dresser to see if the royal family's jewelry still remained. Opening the Queen's jewelry cabinet William stopped immediately seeing something out of the ordinary, a finger that had been cut off sitting in a plastic bag. He pulled it out with his tweezers pulling staring at it for a moment before looking around then slipping it into the pocket of his Jacket. The attitude of William suddenly changed as closed the cabinet as if he knew something he should not.
"What is it?" asked Evan as he stared at William who was suddenly acting strangely.
"All the jewelry is still there," said Williams who walked past Evan making his way out of the room.
