Strike Force: Zeon Expeditionary Force
Defending Force: 1st Independent Disco Fleet
Objectives in terms of Priority:1) Maximum Damage to the Disco Fleet with minimal damage to the Expeditionary Force
2) Destruction of the Columbus, Fuji, and/or Salamis ships.
3) Preserve as much of the ZEF fleet as possible for a second attack when the Braw Bro arrives
4) Force the Disco Fleet commander to bring his ships back to port for repairs
The untimely arrival of the 1st Independent Disco Fleet forced the premature assembly of the Zeon Expeditionary Force. Despite our huge industrial advantage, the benefits have yet to set in which we can out produce and overpower the EFSF.
It is without doubt that the Disco fleet will attack the ZEF in order to bring a decisive battle in space. We will deny them this by out maneuvering them. This will help us defend ourselves especially against a pincer attack or enveloping move.
Therefore we need to wither down their fleet through harassment attacks. The following attack plan is aimed to deal the most damage without fully committing the ZEF.
Assault Plan1. Two of the Disco Fleet ships (the
Merrimack and
Shinji Ikari are both Damaged. There is also a very vulnerable Columbus-class ship called the
Monitor. What this means is that the Disco Fleet is restricted in its movement because it has to babysit those three ships. As a result it is very likely that the Federal commander will place his two undamaged ships (the Pegasus II-class carrier
Kira Yamato and the Salamis-class light cruiser
Caratan) in the front followed by the two damaged ships and then the Columbus in the rear.
2. Before beginning its attack run, the ZEF will scatter Minovsky Particles and deploy Ship Dummy Balloons to be towed into battle. These are not so much as to confuse the enemy but to present to them more targets to waste their time on. The fleet will be led by the Tivvay-class
Lucifer’s Fury who will present its full broadside as we circle the enemy fleet. Followed behind the Tivvay will be the Musai-class
Erinyes. The Musai will be alternating between launching Anti-Beam Chaff to protect the Tivvay and firing her main weapons at the Disco Fleet. The Pazock-class ship
Pride of Brunswick will position herself with the Tivvay and Musai between her and the Disco Fleet. The role of the Pazock is to use its dedicated AA batteries to shoot down Saberfish and missile attacks that get too close to the fleet. At all times, the ships of the ZEF are to maintain their distance from the EFSF fleet.
3. The mobile suits of the ZEF will be divided up into three groups. Group 1 will include the Prototype Gelgoog, Rick Dom, Dom PPT, and six Zaku II Fs (two Zaku II Fs will pair off with each unique mobile suit). Group 2 is made up of the level 3 Bigro mobile armor purchased and five Zaku II Fs (three Zaku II Fs comes from one of the MS Support Services). Group 3 is the Zaku II E and remaining 7 Zaku II Fs (three of the Zaku II Fs are from the second MS Support Service). The three Zaku II Fs of the MS Support Service are specially tasked to protect the Pazock-class ship.
4. All three Mobile Suit groups will stay close as the ZEF begins its attack run. The idea is to maneuver into the flanks of the Disco Fleet where the EFSF ships would present the least weapons towards the ZEF. We will fire from long range, harassing the Disco Fleet and strafing their ranks. Eventually we will force the Pegasus II and Salamis to break formation in order to engage us. This will occur either by EF frustration or when the ZEF circles to the rear of the Disco Fleet, threatening the Columbus and Damaged ships.
5. As soon as the two EF ships break formation, Group 1 will head towards the Disco Fleet. This is not a true attack on the EFSF but to draw the Federal mobile suit defenders out onto the battlefield. Group 1 will engage and hold the Federal units in a defensive position as the fleet continues moving. Their position will move along with the ships of the ZEF, keeping themselves between both fleets at all times.
6. Once Group 1 has attracted the full attention of the Disco fleet defenders and the two EF ships have broken formation, Group 2 will begin their attack. This is the main strike of the whole battle where Group 2 will attempt to close with the Columbus and the two damaged ships. Group 2’s goal is to sink one or more of the three vessels.
7. Group 3’s mission is to safeguard the fleet and for the Zaku II E to spot for the ZEF’s heavy weapons fire at the EFSF ships. Their main job is to intercept any mobile suits, Saberfish, or missiles that got past Group 1.
8. The attack will end either when: the ZEF has completed one lap of the Disco fleet and is in a position to run back to Zeon lines; or when overwhelming EFSF forces gets past Group 1; or when Group 2 suffer too much damage in its attack; or if the ZEF ships take too much weapons damage. At that point, all mobile suits and mobile armor will disengage from the enemy and return to the ZEF under covering fire from the ships.
