A Strategy to take down Gaws
The Proposal:
A Fleet of 3 Medeas
All MS slots are filled with Depp Rogs (12 in total)
Of the 9 Fleet support slots, 8 are filled with Tin Cods and the last with a Dish
Strategy for Engagement:
Purchase 2 (3 if Jojo is present) flight supports consisting of either all Tin Cods or perhaps one group of Fly Mantas. This gives us up to 30 fighter aircraft. (6*3 = 18 from flight support, 8 from fleet, and an extra 4 if I and my MS team of Tin Cods are with the fleet. 18+8+4=30) Gaws can only hold 8 aircraft max so we would have total air superiority. Even if the Zeeks purchase two flight supports that would only give them 18 Dopps total. (8+5+5=18)
After the enemy Dopps are downed, the fighters could then proceed to empty their remaining missiles into the Gaw. After that our large group of Depp Rogs could pound the Gaw with missiles. Then we would withdraw.
If the Gaw managed to survive all that, we could repeat the next day, or a very likely outcome is that that would be enough to force it to land and make emergency repairs- then we could simply bomb it to smithereens with the Depp Rogs.
Why this would work:
Simple really, it relies on speed. Medeas are faster than Gaws so unless we are damaged, the Gaws cannot catch up to us. Not to mention the fact that the Medeas are simply launching/refueling the aircraft and would have no reason to get close to the battle anyway. While the Gaw has an impressive AA compliment, we are mostly engaging at range, our fighters overwhelm the enemy Dopps to set up the Depp Rog missile barrage. After that we withdraw, sustaining minimal casualties while the Gaw has lost its fighter compliment and is most likely moderately damaged. This strategy is also cheap, meaning losses could be replaced.
Granted, we would have a better outcome against single Gaws as opposed to a fleet of them so I think it’s important to continue to harass their single Gaws so they cannot forma fleet of them too easily. If they want to sit holed up in a base and wait till they can afford 3 Gaws for a fleet that’s also great for us because it gives us the initiative and frees us to attack without having to worry about Zeon ships for awhile.
