Congratulations, fellas. Malta is ours. Not without casualty, but God damn this feels good.
I will be absent for the next handful of days. Family is coming in for Thanksgiving, and I’ve spent far more time hovering over the site waiting for this event than I am proud to admit. Before I go, though, I wanted to get the conversation started on the next couple steps for the C.O.C.K.
Europe
Europe appears to be secure. Our remaining forces there should be able to hold it against any follow-ups the Federation can muster in the next week.
Even so, we’ll need to reinforce it with both personal and side RP. Especially if our people feel like spreading out from Malta in the coming days. Anything left over in East Asia will certainly be funneled back to the European theater. We’ll need to ask the PCs to be generous with donations once again, but I’m hoping not to tax them too much – Dan, especially, who sacrificed a Jukon for this operation. If we can find some adequate way to reimburse him, I think it’s necessary.
Speaking of RP, where does the Medea’s RP go? Rhett or Ando?
Looking forward, I think we have two major obstacles in the European/Afro theater: 1) Belfast; 2) making sure our RF mines don’t get obliterated by Des Mielle and Zeon in Africa.
East Asia
This is the big question mark. I’d like opinions from everyone as to what we’re doing in East Asia, if you can spare the time. Chris was going to post a couple days back about strategy, but he got busy and then went and had a birthday. Bad Chris! I wish you hadn’t been born!
I’ll also consult Andrew and Tian, and post on their thoughts in this thread. I assume that won’t violate the board rules, since it’s akin to a commander asking a sergeant for advice.
Personally, I see one of three options:
The first one I already posted on below. Basically, we purchase a Gaw and put Maria on there. Xavier buys two skilled aquatic MS. The Basterds join on the Gaw to round out its MS compliment. Then we use that Gaw to start launching raids against Federation positions in East Asia. At the same time, we funnel money into Manila via Andrew and Tian. They build up its defenses – maybe even turn it from a fortification into a full-blown fortress. Then we get them out of there, and they start harassing the EFF with us.
Or, we pull out of East Asia completely, and see about fielding two Gaws. One as described above, the other supporting Andrew and Tian and their MS team (or we could mix it up however people wanted). Then we strike the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans and attempt to take out their supply fleets situated therein. Even if this ultimately allows the Federation to take Manila, we’ve already seized Malta, and if we take down two of their supply fleets we’re sitting better than even (provided, y’know, they don’t decimate our RF bases in North Africa…)
Both of those plans obviously have a lot of holes. S’why I want to start this dialogue early, so that we can be ready when it comes time for actions to open up next Tuesday.
