That game ruined my life. I kicked ass at it and actually started to enjoy it, then it turned out to be a government recruitment program and I was taken away to start piloting drones on the battlefield.

UFO: Alien Invasion is a pretty good free version of the game. A bit of the depth is missing but the graphics have been improved thanks to the Quake engine. It also works on Macs which is a huge plus for us trendy college kids. ufoai.sourceforge.net/ |

Man, the survival rate of people in that is terrible. But then you get your own Memmetic Badasses who survive till the end of the game and are basically the saviours of the planet.
