I didn't want to further crowd the White Base thread with discussion of New Amsterdam and Europe. However, I think the idea of paradropping New Amsterdam with two or all of our available Gaws on Tuesday is not a bad idea.
The 87th Integrated Fleet is moving to New Amsterdam. It will spend Monday traveling, and arrive Monday night. Right now it is heavily damaged; it won't begin repairing until Tuesday. So if we hit it Tuesday, it'll continue to be heavily damaged when we decide to strike.
If we move the Excelsior, Dragon and Stilva to Europe on Monday we could paradrop Tuesday. I'd also recommend pooling RP for a fourth Gaw to seal the deal. Well, I'd recommend it if it were logistically possible ^_^.
The benefits of this operation seem to be this: - We'd stand a very, very good chance of destroying the 87th Integrated Fleet. Their proximity to Europe means they'd be real trouble if we did decide to push Belfast, so getting rid of them is a good thing. Not to mention the trouble they caused for us at Manila. - Any PCs located aboard the fleet will be attacked Tuesday. Meaning there's a high chance they will get +2 days of damage. Meaning that, come Thursday, they will be "Repairing, 1 day" and -- if they somehow get to California -- be fighting at 1/2 VP. - We can do this without a lot of our own PCs joining in. Maybe even just Ando and Aldo? And Ferusha, if she wants ;D.
The Cons: - We'd be diverting the Gaws from California. I don't think this is as big a deal, since their PC ships (including that damn Himalaya) probably won't be there. Plus, the advantages of the Excelsior are dimmed somewhat, by the fact that we're going up against a ship heavily crewed by Newtypes. - The big con: There are snowstorms in the West Arctic this week. Not all that helpful when it comes to doing air raid operations. - The Federal RP might is considerable. If we're attacking Tuesday, they could have eight garrisons of modified Medea to guard the skies.
It's also worth noting that we don't know if the PCs on the 87th Integrated will be staying there, or moving out Monday. Chances are they're staying there, imo; New Amsterdam is geographically close to Seattle, and it very well could be a rallying point for their defense of White Base. But if they do move, and we have greenlit this operation, we may rethink the attack, since their PC casualties will be minimal.
I think that's everything! Please discuss, if you would (cause you know me -- I miss things; things like the 87th heading there in the first place ^_^). Mind if we have a somewhat more civilized talk about this issue, than has existed so far, though? Infighting makes baby Jesus not want to come out for Christmas =(.

Gaws can not participate at California... sadly... So New Amsterdam it is!

Yeap. Gaws would have to go...
Mon: Malta > Europe; Tue: Europe > West Arctic; Wed: West Arctic > North America; Thu: NA > California.
One more on the pro side.
Do we have anybody currently in the West Arctic? If so, they could scout New Amsterdam Monday. It's pretty lightly defended, and I don't think they'd take enough damage to put them out of California. Then they could go Tue: West Arctic > North America; Wed: North America > California.
Well look'it that. Ferusha Glavadeen, OK, in the West Arctic. Think we can ask you to take the job, Ryocha?

A modification to the original post: For some reason I was under the impression their Himalaya was in the Pacific. It is, in fact, already at New Amsterdam.
Another bug: Can't get that fourth Gaw. It'd be impossible to pool funds, buy the Gaw, and airdrop them with it on Tuesday.
But Chris has a super-awesome suggestion, which he will hopefully post momentarily!

Ok, so here it goes ladies and gentlemen, and Joseph XD
So The Dragon is already in Europe and will be available to Paradrop the 87th Integrated fleet on Monday, Excelsior and Stilva can move out from Malta Monday, and paradrop New Amsterdam Tuesday once the fleet arrives there. Same time, Dragon assaults New Amsterdam. Wednesday we form the fleet back up, and siege those fuckers and trap them in the base!!!!!
soooo
Monday -Ando Shoji and Aldo Armistad board Dragon and paradrop 87th, purchasing either 2x Air Support, or Air Support and Artillery Support. *Ando and Aldo purchases Cold Climate Refit. -Stilva, Excelsior and U-88 disband fleet, and move into Europe. -Duncan Keystone boards one of the two Gaws in Europe. *** As a side note, would like to see if we could get Scarth in on this, getting him into West Arctic for Tuesday's events, hooray Terrorist Contacts!***
Tuesday -Stilva and Excelsior with Duncan Keystone paradrop onto New Amsterdam, purchasing 2x Air Support, or Air Support and Artillery Support. *Duncan Purchase Cold Climate Refit -Dragon, Aldo Armistad, and Ando Shoji, pending outcome of Monday's events, assaults New Amsterdam in coordination with the paradrop -U-88 moves to West Arctic
Wednesday -If 87th and the PCs are still at New Amsterdam, we form fleet with remaining ships, whether 3, or all 4, and siege them and trap those bastards into New Amsterdam and close them off from White base!
Participants -Ando Shoji - 354rp -Aldo Armistad - 250rp -Duncan Keystone - 425rp Total -1029rp
Purchases 4x Support - 400rp 2x Harsh Climate Refits -100rp Total -500rp
Remaining RP -529rp ____
Discuss! Other possibility that has been mentioned was substituting Duncan Keystone for Aldo, using the Rhinoceros in attack on New Amsterdam would be useful, agreed.

You know my feelings on the idea. Pure awesomesauce, with no artificial flavoring. Especially the tiered attack aspect that will let us hit an already-crippled fleet before it can meet up with New Amsterdam. Plus, I can’t wait to see how the writer deals with Ando and Aldo fighting side-by-side. I have a feeling one is going to get renamed before the end ^_^.
Monday, I think we should hit them hard and fierce. Cramming Ando’s Zaku II S, the Dragon’s two NPCs, and Aldo’s Dom S and 2 x L5 Doms into the hangar will round out the force nicely. I’d like to aim to disable the ships, so that there’s a chance they never make it to New Amsterdam.
Ferusha – provided Ryocha agrees – can also attempt to scout New Amsterdam Monday.
Tuesday, we hit the fleet (if it didn’t make it) or New Amsterdam (if it did). Duncan Keystone can hitch a ride on the Stilva; his Rhinocerous will be hella-useful as an artillery unit. Stilva and Excelsior can then bomb them from above cloud cover, using Excelsior’s targeting data. This will be nice, because a) it makes them come to us with their fighter craft, b) it means their planes are flying through snowstorms to get to our position, and c) with the visual obstruction + the Minovsky particle distortion, they won’t even really know where we are when they get there – but we’ll know exactly where they’re breaking the clouds, and have Dopps waiting.
Wednesday, we form the fleet, and put them under siege.
Here’s a bit more detailed expense analysis…
Ando Shoji: 354 RP Aldo P. Armistad: 250 RP Duncan Keystone: 425 RP ----------Total: 1029 RP
Purchases: - 4 x support services @ 400 RP (Ando Shoji 2 x @ 200 RP; Duncan Keystone 2 x @ 200 RP) - 3 x cold climate refits @ 150 RP (Ando Shoji @ 50 RP, Duncan Keystone @ 50 RP, Aldo P. Armistad @ 50 RP) - L2 Gouf @ 140 RP; 2 x L2 Zaku Cannon @ 234 RP ----------Total: 784 RP
The remaining 245 would go to California Base. Alternatively, we could fudge the numbers a bit, and try to have Matthew buy a Samson at Malta on Monday. It would move with the Jukon II to Europe on Monday, then into the East Arctic Tuesday. It'd be nice to have some support craft when we do the siege.
I’d also like to ask that Alain Grace spends 36 RP on 2 x Dopp for the Excelsior.
How are other people feeling about this?

I wouldn't mind scouting New Amsterdam on Monday to give you guys an edge in the paradropping business.
They only have Nigel's Medea and no MS, so I shouldn't take much damage. A day or two maximum if I somehow manage to screw up royally.

I like this plan. Ryocha scouting New Amsterdam could help, however I fear it may not be until Tuesday before we know our true target. Like we did in the beginning, the fleet could hold position and ambush her instead. In which case on Tuesday we'd have to make the decision to paradrop the fleet or paradrop the base.
The snowstorms should help since it'd mean the ships would have problems manuvering and I can only imagine launching from an aircraft rocking aircraft carrier in high winds would be horrible.
Moderatly limited visability and removal of their Detectors would mean you just would be on top of them before they knew you were there.
Tis an all around good idea made better with the advantage of mother nature.

the Numbers.
Federal Fleet
The Himalaya
The Medea
As was mentioned, the snowstorms should cause problems with their aircraft...On the bad side, it'll cause problems with our aircraft as well.

They wouldn't be able to attack me upon entering the West Arctic on Monday, so I'll still scout it out. Mind you, that'd leave me for easy pickings to get beaten around by an entire fleet and/or made a prisoner of war depending on how they want to deal with it, if the scouting is successful.

Cross fingers and hope for the best?
If to avoid the most conflict, we could always contact Scarth to scout for us.

It's highly unlikely they would attack Ryocha. They want to get that damaged fleet to the protection of New Amsterdam and its Himalaya. If they're sitting out in the open on Tuesday, they don't stand a chance.

If you launch an attack, don't forget the Chicken Little, the Lleu Llaw Gyffes, and Jane Sheppard will be there as well. I'd help attack New Amsterdam on Tuesday, but if I got moved into New Amsterdam after the attack, I wouldn't be able to participate in the Garma Event.
