Looking uncomfortably around her, Rachel gathered her thoughts and straightened out her close-fitting uniform, sighing. She had asked for this; the enemy commander was obviously competent, even if he was slightly unlucky. And she wanted to know what kind of people she had been killing - The image of a boy flashed in her mind and made her grimace. She had no idea what that was, but she was pretty sure it was real. Gathering her thoughts, she took a deep breath, and opened the cell door.
Giving a sad smile, she stuck out her hand towards him. "Lieutenant Wu Jinyuan? My name is Rachel. Rachel Arronax. Can we talk?"

Wu Jinyuan looked up from his cell bed with a quizzical look on his face. His finger is also up his nose. He sniffed curiously and wiped the palm of his hand across his nose as he coughs.
This is an odd one, sending a woman to talk to him. She seems... naive. Oh pitiful.
"Well, we can talk inside my pants if you like." He grabs Rachel's hand with his greasy one and shook with a sly smile.

Inside, Rachel grew more confident. She didn't spend years working at asteroid mines without being exposed to the cruder sort of humor. She merely tightened her grip, and then let go, sitting next to him. "Well, I'm sure there's plenty of room in there. But I think I'll decline for now."
Leaning back, she stared at the ceiling. "You must be good to get a ship like this. And your subordinates are skilled - I have trouble sleeping due to some of the close calls I had a few days ago."
Turning towards him, she shrugged. "This isn't really a formal interrogation. I mean, if you want to help me out, I'd be glad, but honestly, all I wanted to ask you is...Why? What's your reason, Lieutenant? Why risk all this, what's your reason for fighting?"

Wu Jinyuan watched and laughed to himself as the woman shook his hand tighter. He can see the booger from his nose sticking to the woman's hand as Jinyuan leaned back, waiting for the first question.
He nodded as she commented about the ship.
Then she asked her first question. Wu Jinyuan raised an eyebrow at her as though she told a joke and just needed time to deliver a punch line. When none came he groaned and leaned back against the wall with his eyes closed.
Jinyuan cracked open one eye to look at his 'interrogator'. "Seriously, of all the things you can ask, you decide to ask that? Have you ever been to a job interview before? I had interns for shoeshining that picked better questions."
He leaned forward in a patronizing manner. "Look babe, I can read insignias. Even the outdated ones of the Federal government. Call your superior officer, give me a real grownup or something."

Leaning towards him in return, she smiled "Mister Jinyuan, I respect your talent, and I admit I'm not very good at this. I just want to know exactly what kind of people I'm killing out there, you know? I, for one, don't like to think of Zeon as inhumane beasts, though you're not helping their image much."
Taking off her glasses to clean them, she continued. "I've been granted special permission to talk to you in consideration of my advice that caused you to be caught in the first place. It also caused several hundred men to die. I was hoping talking to you would make it easier to deal with, but you're an arrogant bastard and hard to talk to. Despite that, from what minor records we have on you, you're an interesting person. What would it take for you to help us?"

The Lieutenant sighed as he drooped his head at Arronax like a elementary school teacher trying his best to explain physics to a Special Ed kid. Actually he's looking at the booger from his nose that made the way from Arronax's hand to the edge of her glasses frame.
How dense is this kid?
"What am I, your psychologist now?" asks Jinyuan with dramatic concern on his face as he looks up back at Arronax. "Babe, you're not a soldier. I can smell that. You're the kind who would boycott power plants because it's causing the pollution yet complain when there's no electricity in your house."
Then a thought came to him. "I still can't believe you're asking me what it would take for me to help you... well, I might as well give you an answer."
Jinyuan took a deep breath and:
When that was over, Jinyuan gave a good laugh then regained control of himself.
"Heh, yeah. Listen you either let Uncle Jinyuan here show you how to be a big girl or you can find a real officer for me to talk to."

Rachel was having difficulty controlling herself, she was getting ticked off against her intentions. She stood up sharply, and glared at Wu, taking a few breaths.
Just then, the door lock rattled, and it opened with a heavy sound.
In the doorway stood a nine year old girl with a ensign insignia on her collar. A child's voice rang out, laced with scorn. "This is absolutely fucking pathetic. Candidate Arronax, sit your ass in that chair over there and grow up."
The little girl brushed right past Rachel and kicked Wu in the shin. "And you, what the hell is your problem? Granted she's an idiot, but are you really so stupid as to try and fuck her in the middle of the cell?"
Rachel interrupted. "Um...an adorable little girl shouldn't be talking like that. Who are you, and what are you doing here?"
Whirling around, the girl shot Rachel a glare. "I am Ensign Alexa Winters, special detachment from Admiral Heiman. Quit looking like a hurt puppy and sit your stupid ass down." Whirling back towards Jinyuan, she stared up at him. "Now, we can be civilized, or we can see how far the antarctic treaty will stretch without breaking. Help us out enough, and we'll consider releasing your sorry ass; you're not much good as a bargaining chip. We got a message from Kycillia Zabi saying she's considering paying us to babysit you, that any commander who lost a Gwazine was already dead to her."
"Now, Mister Jinyuan, you will talk with me. What were you doing here, this close to earth? From our reports, you seemed to be nothing more than a fucking supply convoy helping out miners. I assumed this is because it was all you could be trusted to do."

Wu Jinyuan looked down at the petite woman in front of him. Yes, he is sitting on the bed in the cell and he is still looking down at this Alexa Winters.
He looks over at Rachel Arronax. Then back at Alexa Winters. Jinyuan then crook his head to one side, then look at the both of them again.
"Were you two part of a traveling circus before you enlist? You know the "Oompa Lumpa" something or the other?," asked Jinyuan with a serious face," because I know some school systems do afterschool jobs with entertainment companies... but damn I bet you did gymnastics. Or as they call it, horizontal Poledancing."

Alexa scoffed, and pulled out a notepad. "Congratulations Mister Jinyuan, you just upgraded from a 3 meal a day plan to bread and water laced with a laxative. Enjoy your bonding experience with the brig's head. I don't fuck around, Mister Jinyuan. Are you planning on helping, or not? If you are, I can engineer your release, or at least give you better accommodations. If not, you can enjoy our hospitality. I'll let Miss Arronax here have permission to talk to you as an added punishment."
That last line gathered an ignored "Hey!" from the other side of the room.

Wu Jinyuan raised his eyebrow at the screaming child in front of him. As if seeing them in supermarkets are bad enough.
"Listen kids," he finally said," I don't know which school play they took you guys from but they should really stop handing out real uniforms as costumes to close their budget deficits.
Then Wu Jinyuan took a deep breath and make a very serious face as though he was on a cop show or something.
(For inspiration)
"Let me tell you what is going to happen, this way you can... prepare yourself."
He gives the two girls a moment before continuing.
"Soon something is going to happen to this ship and the both of you will be called outside..."
"... in the hall waiting there will be someone who knows more about this ship than you two, but not so much as me..."
"... first he is going to tell you that you've done a fine job getting on this ship and that you are making the Earth Sphere a better place. You are probably going to get commendations, maybe a promotion..."
"... and then he's going to tell you that the only way that's going to happen is because of me."
"You are going to protest, maybe threaten to kill him. But in the end you need me more than I need you."
"The reason is the same reason why you think I should help you. I am a Zeon officer and you do hold me captive. But this is still my ship and I know you have little else than the floor grating you are standing on."
"Now you may think I'm a vile example of humanity... but for you right now, I'm a necessary vile example of humanity. You are welcome to the hospitality onboard my ship for now."

Ensign Winters rolled her eyes dramatically. "No shit. Is that all? You need your ego stroked? Okay then. Yes, your assistance would be very helpful. Not as helpful as your engineers, but helpful. But don't think this ship is impossible to run without you. It's not designed to be confusing, after all. It's designed to be useful."
"But let's say that you are important. Name a good reason why not to help? Because you even had this bimbo here," she said, jerking her head towards Rachel, "try to be your friend. I mean, if you're homosexual, that's fine, but why not help us? If I understand you right, you'd rather have your ship than your rank, otherwise Kycillia wouldn't seem to be pissed at you."

A cheshire cat grin spread over Wu Jinyuan's face.
"I have as much faith in the Federal government as you are tall," proclaimed Wu Jinyuan. He leaned his elbow on his knee. "I also highly doubt you are in communications with the Zabi family. You are much too short in every degree to even get on their spam listing."
"Besides, amateurs as you are, you at least have common sense..."
A pause. Wu Jinyuan raised his hand a few inches above Winter's head.
"But you have to be at least this high to ride Jinyuan."

Winters grinned. "It's not exactly hard to be in contact when she sends the Federal government a personal letter. You should feel proud, she still remembers you." She boosted herself up onto a table edge to be more eye-to-eye. "I'm glad to hear you're not a pedophile, but the offer wasn't on the table in the first place. Is there a chance to deal, or do you just want to rot in the brig, Mister Jinyuan?"

The Zeon lieutenant looked at the small woman as if she was one of those Hollywood chihuahuas common on television.
"What I want is for someone other me to notice the snot on her glasses," said Jinyuan as he points to the huge booger still on Arronax's glasses.
"Let me know when I can speak to an adult. By that I mean someone who doesn't need a booster chair to eat their lunch. Oh, and you can tell your parents that I'm proud of you. About as proud as when they are going to buy you your first training bra in a few years. You would make an excellent pageant girl when you grow up."
