This writing situation is something that we just cannot ignore.
We've gotten to a point where we're averaging 6-7 battles a day, and we usually have at least one thing every day involving a dozen PC's and a fleet. I love the activity, but the current writing staff simply cannot be expected to meet this kind of workload.
I can't be expected to write every day, between organizing the update, updating the site, keeping track of everything on the forums and dealing with all the drama we've been having recently. I write when I feel like I'm up to it, but lately that has been less often, because the updates themselves have gotten increasingly more difficult.
Chan, Daren, Nirvash and Zero-0 can't be expected to write every day either, but currently they are doing so. So far the extra demand has been met by backup writers, or by Chan and Nirvash pulling all nighters, and this isn't fair. Writers shouldn't be expected to put in 20 hours a week for the RPG.
I do not expect things to get easier, I expect them to get harder. At this point people are going to have to step up, and I am going to have to get two more serious full time writers, or the RPG will probably have to be closed. Sometimes too much success and too much activity can ruin a game. We're only human, we're not getting paid for this, and we can only be expected to do so much.

Would slowing down the number of updates help? For example if you had one update every two days for now would that be an issue? Frankly I don't care much how fast this game proceeds.

I second Jojo's idea. I'd much rather see the game continue at a slower pace than see it disappear entirely.
I also mentioned it earlier, but I'll make it more official here. Once I'm done with Advanced EWO training and things calm down to where I have more free time, I'll be happy to take a full time writer position for as long as I'm able. But this probably wont happen until late march/early April at best.
Edit: I'll even do the actual battle writer tryouts if I need to at that point.

Doing 2 update weeks is not something that is acceptable to me.

Updating twice update weeks would kill activity. Some members even said the reason the planning boards were dead silent for a week was due to such an update schedule. There's really no way around it but having more writers which grows difficult again with another semester of school beginning.

I can do some stuff while I'm at work. I work from 11PM-7AM EST usually throughout the entire week. There might be a day where I don't update, but I honestly can write battles. I think most people here can attest to my ability to write.
And to hit people with trees.

Doing 2 update weeks is not something that is acceptable to me. How about 3 updates a week?

Doing 2 update weeks is not something that is acceptable to me. How about 3 updates a week? That FUBARS the schedule too hard. Everything about this game is timed out, you see.
