We'll be ready for them, though. Chan and I are working on a plan.

I'd like to suggest purchasing 3x Dodbays since they seem to be much more durable than Gaws, and 1x Gaw, and then using the difference to spruce up some extra units. Edit: Zaku Es/Luggons + Xamels + Zaku Cannons + Dodbays = Artillery Win. Makes sense to me.

I say Siege it, then on the first day of seige when they are likely to sally forth to try and break us immediatly have the MA drop from orbit. =P I find it highly unlikely that they would ever try to Sally Forth against a fleet the size of which we will be bringing to bear. More likely, they will Fortify, or possibly Hole Up if we truly have excellent artillery. At that point we should be able to Sally Forth to keep them pressed against the base, and have Apsalus II drop down then. My gut says we should get two Gaws to maintain a degree of flexibility as far as what we can do with paradrops over the course of the West Arctic campaign, especially with the weather in the region: This has worked out in our favor before to protect our Gaws, and I think it could do so again.

Because someone was concerned about Latooni gunning for the Apsalus, that's why.

As Gap pointed out the 2/2 ratio of Gaws to Dodbays does offer more flexibility, and the Gaws can help enforce air superiority. My only complaint is that the Feddies are doing what they (we for most of us) did last game, which is simply go heavy on sniper support, and then rely on numeric superiority with Tin Cods to hold our superior Dopps at bay. (This is frustrating because we buy many, many air supports, and still seem to be on the losing end of this, even when breaking even). Dodbays are much, much more durable (as far as I can tell), and they offer slightly more vehicle space, at the expense of mobile suits, and paradrop operations, they do however offer superior shelling of "hard" targets. I can see either as being justifiable.

Well-said, Andrew.
You made a nice argument, you've laid down the merits of investing heavily into Dobdays pretty well. I'm earnestly hoping Jon can finish the SA event soon so I can see how Schmerz performed before I make my mind up about what -I- would like to see us do, but that's just me and I'm not the only one involved in this decision obviously.
