Martian Free Men

Unit size: 12
CP value: 22 per level
Armaments: Dagger, AK-47
Specializations: Operative
The conditions on Mars are more harsh than anywhere else in the solar system. This is a little known, but undeniable fact.
For starters, the atmospheric pressure is barely enough to sustain normal bodily function without a spacesuit (albeit uncomfortably), but the air is completely unbreathable. This has caused the CMC government to not give an adequate number of environmental suits to its villages, and most Martians only use oxygen masks, simple goggles, and a cold weather jacket when they go out into the open air. Failing ventilation systems and bad housing ideas in the Martian settlements force the locals to keep their masks with them at all times in case of a pressure loss inside their own homes.
The temperatures are nearly always below freezing. In fact, a good day on Mars is one that is above freezing. This makes travel at night next to impossible, and travel during the day drains ones stamina much faster than in an environmentally controlled space station.
The economy of the land has forced more than 90% of local Martian citizens into mining or other hard manual labor. Weaker citizens are often killed in accidents. The survivors become the strongest, and most Martian men are very familiar with death and injury.
Finally, the spirit and solidarity of the Martian citizen is one that has risen by leaps and bounds over the last fourty years. Many of the smaller settlements have become completely autonomous, their citizens having an exceptionally strong sense of brotherhood from a full generation of only relying on their own sweat and toil.
These things combined make Martian militias, known as the "Free Men" much hardier than any from any other planet on the solar system. Their access to firearms is often limited, but their unshakable morale, coupled with their complete unquestionable dominance in hand to hand makes them more than a match for any organized military infantry.
