The screams erupted across the battlefield as the mortar rounds pounded in around Nigel and the marines in the desert. Joe Dzurik stood next to Nigel dragging him out of the sand.
"Make a decision damn it," demanded Joe as he shook Nigel violently.
"We planned it all out, I gave them orders," yelled Nigel in response as he dove back to the ground as a round hit near them.
"The men don't need orders they need leadership," grilled Joe as he stood oblivious to the rounds coming in around him, grabbing Nigel yet again dragging him to his feet.
"I am not a hero," pleaded Nigel as he looked into the steady stare from Joe Dzurik.
"They don't need a hero, but your cowardice hurts them," preached Joe as a Zaku came running over the sand ridge behind them.
"I haven't been a coward for a long time. I did my best to..." pleaded Nigel trying to break free of Joe's grasps as he looked at the men of the 42nd Brigade around them.
"How many have died because of your actions!" accused Joe as he punched Nigel once in the face still holding him with the other hand by the collar.
"I did the best I could for them, I exhausted all effort," pleaded Nigel as he spit up a little blood from his mouth.
A shell exploded behind Joe, where Kyle Webb stood staring at Nigel with a pleading face on him. Kyle evaporated in the blast his body and blood showering over both Joe and Nigel.
"He died because you didn't lead him, " accused Joe as he pulled up his pistol shooting a charging zeon soldier dead with a single shot.
"I can't live up to you," accused Nigel as he continued to struggle to free himself from Joe's grasp as the battle raged around them.
"You put even your family at risk as you fail to lead even them," demanded Joe as he took a crown that was off the top of Nigel's head. "You don't deserve to be a King coward."
"I fight to free my people every day!" pleaded Nigel as a GM collapsed as the fight continued around them slamming beside them as Joe casually stepped to the side to barely avoid it crushing him.
"You call this fighting? Your men are lost and confused," said Joe as he pointed to Mike Rhea who was laying in a ditch with a panicked look on his face.
"Damn it, I am tired of your lies. I saved him and pushed everyone to their limits to find Mike and Tim after we bravely went against a Gaw in combat." yelled Nigel his emotions rising tired of Joe's harsh words. Nigel slammed his head forward head butting forcing him to release his grip around Nigel's neck.
"I kept moral up when the fight seemed hopeless in the Arctic," screamed Nigel as heart heart pounded louder and louder. Pushing Joe to the ground he continued, "I tried my hardest to kill the damned machine the blew up our base in a single blow. I kept Kyle and the rest alive just fine despite being ordered into some of the worst situations possible in this damn war. I killed the Gaw you could not as we retreated in North Africa. I am relentless and worked till I collapsed. I have a broken leg, a broken hand and I still stand and fight with my men. I AM A LEADER."
Joe's expression went from one of confidence to one of terrible sadness and the utter depths of despair. He shook for a moment as he crawled back on his hands away from Nigel on the ground.
"But you still killed me," said Joe with a single tear coming down his face right before a massive explosion evaporated Joe Dzurik.

Nigel suddenly woke up in his bed, both of his hands shacking violently. The dream hadn't been the first of the kind he had experienced recently. A small sob was all the Nigel could mutter as a single tear beaded up in his eye. The hardness of a soldier in war that Nigel tried so hard to keep then came over him again. A single hand reached up and touched his shoulder softly. The sweet smell of perfume rolled over Nigel in the small bed.
The soft touch of Melissa, who had been gone for so long, was something Nigel couldn't handle and it sent all attempts at strength flooding out of the officer. They both grabbed each other in the tiny officer's bed tears streaming down both of their faces.
"I can't stand to lose you again," said Nigel as he grasped Melissa's hand tightly.
"I can't lose you either," smiled Melissa weakly as she stared into her husband's eyes, but her reassurance was not enough to make any change in her mood. She knew something else bothered him deeply. Nigel slumped his head down in a defeated manner, but Melissa pulled his head back up kissing him slowly for a second.
