Cid offered to sell us three of his CTC's at 50 RP a piece (he can't take them into Deep Space unless he puts Solar Sails and Nuclear Pulse Engines on them. Something which he's going to do with the Gwazine).
While at first I didn't know what to do with a bunch of freighters, then I realize we can pay Cid and extra 270 RP to give all of them the (R) - Repair ability.
This is cheaper than buying four more Papuas. plus we can then stuff the Long Haul with the CTCs together as a repair fleet. Then we can have that fleet idle in Dren or Helsing Fleet. That way, we can repair four damage grades a day without worrying about protecting a base.
Originally I was going to reclaim and repair Purgatorio (which I might do anyway to create a new respawn point), but this is more convenient. Especially since I was planning on moving the rebuilt Purgatorio into +3DE.
Thoughts anyone? This all comes out to about 960 RP which I can pay for myself.
