"Istanbul is freed. What will you do now?" David asked. He laid on a couch, attended by Maria while Aptal sat at the kitchen table, a falafel untouched before him. Aptal was pensive. He hadn't considered the result of victory. It was clear that he was more unstable than ever.
"I don't know.. I've been living in occupied territory for months. I guess I'll go home. My war is over..."
The chant devolved to a whisper. Maria worked on David's arm. It was getting infected. Without quick work, the shrapnel and sewage would mean amputation. Luckily, Maria was quick and David was docile.
"We'll go see my brother," said Maria. "He works for the Federation. He's been our business contact for these missions. with the hospital gone, perhaps I'll be hired into the Federation forces as a nurse. But Aptal.. no one will hire such a..." Maria held her tone.
The terrorist sat silently, having won his cause. But victory was bitter sweet. He was a nobody now. A gun idled in his hands. He stood up, nodded to Maria, and gave David a salute.
And with that, Aptal shot himself in the head.

David was the first one on his feet.
"Don't bother," sobbed Maria. "He never misses."
She did not seem at all surprised.
"He always talked about doing it. Said the only thing keeping him alive was the cause. He had no future, no plan..." She touched her stomach. "But I did! My child... my child..."
David looked to her, and then to him. Whatever was going on, he wanted no part of this. Though Aptal was a monster of a man, even he didn't deserve to die. David picked up Aptal's AK-74u and bayonet. He pulled the hand gun out of Maria's belt. She needed a shovel, not side arms.
"Where can I find your brother?"
"Just tell an officer you're looking for work. They'll tell you what to do..."
David left without another word.
Maria held Aptal's bleeding head in her hands.
"Aptal... I'm sorry... it wasn't yours..."

March 04, UC 0079
0800
Maria woke up, hung over. It was 8 AM but she needed to get home quick. Her husband would kill her for this.
Picking up her clothes one by one, she slipped on a teddy and put on her coat. With silent precision, she pulled up her thong.
"Where you going hajji?"
The captain of the guard had woken up.
"Oh master..." Maria smiled. "You know my husband will miss me."
He roughly grabbed her.
"What did you ever see in a pussy like that anyway?"
"Oh master, I'm only with him for his money. But you spoil me master."
The captain smiled and threw her back on the bed. In seconds, her clothes would be on the floor again.

Aptal made a falafel for his nephew.
The boy watched with wonder. He was only 7 years old, but quickly absorbing information like a sponge. He could speak Turkish, English, Japanese and Arabic. He was the last child of Maria's 40 year old father. Although he was truly Aptal's brother-in-law, both he and his wife had agreed to raise him as a nephew.
"Then what do you do Amca Aptal?"
"Well, Kurban, we take the falafel, and we eat it!" he said with a smile. This was Kurban's favorite part. Aptal tossed four in the air, catching and swallowing three, one by one.
"Where's teyze?"
The fourth fell to the floor.

Maria was late. She couldn't help it, Major Tavsan was insatiable. She had tried to leave three times, but a man like that just couldn't be satisfied. She spent the day in the Turkish baths, just washing his scent off her. "Oh, Major Tavsan..." she moaned quietly to herself as she walked. He was a true man, not like her pussy husband her mother arranged for him. Aptal was poor, ugly, and had no skills or job to think of. She smiled warmly to herself reminisced of her forbidden night. It was night's like those poetry was made of~
"Aptal, Aptal! I'm home! Aptal?"
The man of the house sat in the dark. A pistol was in his hands.
"Where were you?"
"I've been at the hospital, we were over worked." Her eyes looked down to the gun. "Soldiers keep coming in from the West. They say Istanbul is lost!" Maria didn't notice, but she was stuttering and shivering. Tears began to form in her ducts.
"That's a lie, you whore."
"What?" Maria flinched.
There was a body on the floor.
"Tavsan! My god, what have you done?" Maria froze. Her lover. There was no talking her way out of this. Aptal knew everything.
"I went to the hospital this afternoon to try and find you. Apparently, I wasn't the only one. This shit here, was in your office, asking for you. I asked him how he knew you and oh, how he regaled your night together. I told him you were in the basement. He kept going on and on until I pushed him on the stairs and stomped on his head."
Aptal's boots were caked with blood and brain tissue. Maria was horrified, but there Tavsan lay. No one would think Aptal capable of this. He was feminine, if anything.
"Is it true? Seven times? You slut."
Maria started to cry. There was nothing she could say. She fell to her knees, and took the abuse with remorse.
"Well, whore? Are you going to answer me or not?"
She cried openly and covered her face.
"I'm... sorry..." she could barely speak. "Please.. Aptal... stop... "
"Teyze?"
The commotion had woken the child up. Maria looked up in horror, but Aptal was in a fury.
"IT'S TOO LATE FOR THAT, WHORE!" Now he was crying too. He raised the gun to her. "You were my wife... you were my wife. Maria Vaha! Til death do us part! I thought... You wanted.. I loved you... I LOVED YOU! HOW COULD YOU?"
Aptal raised his gun to his head. One shot, and this would all be over.
"Please Aptal, no!"
She leapt to take the gun from him, but he had already pulled the trigger. The bullet sped past his ear, deafening him permanently, going through Maria's shoulder, spinning and redirecting the bullet until it went end over end, tumbling into Kurban's head.
In the windows, the HLVs of Ma Kube's forces fell like comets. Their world would never be the same.
