The helmet of the normal suit went sailing across the rear hangar of the Decimator, a growl and a string of profanities accompanying it. The plasteel clanged against the bulkhead as Irusk turned to look out the closing hangar bay door, the ruins of Constantinople, still afire from the Federal Forces assault.
Those around him could almost feel the anger radiating off of him, as he turned away from the door, looking at the maintenance crew who seemed to have stopped what they were doing and just standing around.
"Get back to work. All of you!" His voice was hoarse, each word laced with the feeling of rage that was boiling just beneath the surface. They didn't seem to move as quickly as he would have liked, and he grabbed the collar of the closest mechanic, pulling him closer to his face, the scowl growing. "Do you have a hearing problem, get on it!"
"Enough!" Her voice was raised even louder than his, the sound of her heels clicking across the metal just behind him. He lets the mechanic's collar go, turning to face the ship commander, Sascha Kratikoff. Her gaze just bored right into Irusk, her face pale in the dim lighting of the ship, but her expression said it all. "Who the hell do you think you are? Does he look like he's wearing a Federal Uniform? Or that he's somehow responsible for a traitor within our forces?"
Before he could respond, she stepped up and slapped him dead across the face. He didn't turn away from the slap, his eyes narrowing as he stared at her, fists clenched at his sides. "Get a hold of yourself, and stop acting like a child. You are a Zeon Officer."
"And we failed in our mission, Kratikoff. Now the Federal Forces have taken Constantinople, and more disturbingly, have destroyed countless works of history."
And the worst blow of all, the one that injured his pride, and the true depth of reflection on the failure that burned him deeply. "And the Hagia Sophia was destroyed. We saw it collapse as we left the city." His voice turned bitter, looking back towards the city, the hangar bay door finally sealing shut. "I swore that I wouldn't let anything happen to it, and look, it's ruined." He unzipped the top of his normal suit, allowing the collar to breathe as he moved away from Kratikoff.
"If I ever get my hands on that traitor, or any Federal Officer, I will show them the error of their success here. It will not be merciful, either."
He didn't bother waiting for her to respond, and just walked to the ready room, sealing the door behind him.
