Hey all, this thread is a call to arms for those of you who want to get involved with the EFGF’s Odessa strategy.
Unfortunately, I simply do not have the time to devote to this kind of planning right now. I fully understand it is a partial rejection of my duty as an officer and I am ready to accept the consequences of that but facts are facts.
I became an officer because I understand the logistics of the game, the normal day to day flow and the knowledge of how to create effective fleet builds and loadouts. Unfortunately, this run's Odessa is turning out to be a different type of game entirely.
If I had more time, I might be interested in something new like this run’s Odessa but the fact is I don’t. Handling the day to day stuff is a big enough time commitment already. Especially this week when I’m on spring break and would like to enjoy the time off with my family, not having to spend hours understanding new rules and formulating strategy.
So in summary, I will get us to Odessa but others will have to come up with the plan once we get there. I am asking for volunteers who would be interested in this sort of planning to assist Jojo and the other officers. I apologize to those of you who think I am passing off my duties, but this is how it’s going to be.

Assuming we stay on schedule, is Odessa this week? Or does it start next Monday? If it starts next Monday, then I won't be able to help, as that's when my flight's capstone project starts, where we basically plan a war for two weeks. Otherwise, I'd like to help where I can.

I'd love to help out, however, I am pretty confused by the Odessa ground rules (need to read em more) so I wouldn't be much help. So I'll work on that and throw in my two cents when I can - as always.

Odessa is this Thursday.
I think the rough plans are due this Thursday while the detailed ones are not due till Sunday.

I am in the middle of putting together a huge art exhibition in Lisbon, but I will make time to hop on chat and work out a strategy. Just let me know the time and date.
And Feyd, you have done more than enough. Thanks again.

I will be on chat as well, to help where I can without getting in the way.
I'm also okay with GIMP, so I can draw up our deployment if need be, though I assume most of you can hold your own with it as well. In any case, if there's any grunt work to be done, send it my way!
Edit: Feyd, you are awesome. Thanks for all your help.

I probably won't be able to make a chat (my schedule is eminently weird this week; I have free time during the day and client meetings in the evening...) but I could probably forward suggestions and whatnot to someone to present on my behalf in the aforementioned chat.
Regardless, it will have to happen soon, since we apparently need to have our deployment decided upon by tomorrow. I vote we divide up our deployment, broadly, into three sectors: most of the land units and ships on the north western side of the map, most of the naval units on the south eastern tip, and then maybe some medeas in the north east to paradrop from behind.
My reasoning for this is that, in the last Odessa, the Feddies lost a lot of units trying to cross the river, so we should avoid that and go over land. If we bombard them from the water and maybe even land some units in their backyard, that will keep them distracted enough so that we can pour our land force through the northwest border of the base. Maybe we could have a few Medeas ready to paradrop units across the river, to give them from being able to focus all their defenses in one place.

One of the ideas I had was to make one of our fronts apparently large, but pack most of the PCs into the other fronts. This gives the Zeeks the impression that we're going to hit 'em hard from that side, but they'll be surprised when our mobile suits hop out of one of the weak fronts. Of course, that would only work if the PCs are supported enough not to get murdered when they deploy, and the large front is able to hold its own against strong defenses.
Disclaimer: Trying to help out, but new to the RPG and new to Gundam.

OK, well considering that the only way the 42nd fleet will be able to participate in the event is to paradrop without the LLG, we should use that to our advantage in deploying other troops. Odessa Deployment MapWhat we could do is have the 42nd paradrop Odessa in from the Northeast (O on the map) while our main contingency spreads out amongst the larger blue deployment area on the map.

All these ideas are good, if someone wants to go ahead and come with a deployment.
The fact that the 42nd did not move yesterday means Jojo may be MIA which is worrying.

I'm working on a map in GIMP right now that puts all our units on the board, at least. I'll share the link when it's done. Should be ready in another couple hours.
It would help if someone could throw together a list of what PCs will be present. Anyone?

All our PC's should be present on the final day, but you don't have to worry about deploying PC's for this initial deployment.

I'd be the only PC in this deployment.

I'm using the ships and units listed in this thread for reference. These are what we have to worry about for deployment, yes? Also, does anyone know a website/program that would allow for collaborative planning? Personally, I would use MapTool for this, but if no one else has ever heard of it (and I don't expect many have), it's not worth it. Otherwise, I guess we can work in chat. PS: Do we use GIMP or photoshop here? I'll make the xcf and psd formats available if we have people from both sides. Should be done later this evening.

I have the map, with units and the deployment zone present as separate layers. Here it is as: .xcf (~10MB) .psd (~20MB) .png (~8MB) Without Key (Legend): (not updated to reflect deployments) .xcf (~9MB) .psd (~17MB) .png (~6.5MB) Note that the png is a merged image, present if you simply want to view the file; you won't be able to move units around. Please let me know if you want a different format, or which format is preferred, or if you have any problems or suggestions. I'll be at work for the next couple hours, but I'll be back after that for strategy.
